SOURCE: Bios when you start up

You need to remove the battery from the mother board. There is a small battery, like a watch battery, on the mother board, but it is not an easy task getting to it..

You'll probably need to download instructions for taking the laptop apart.

When you find the battery, remove it for an hour or so. Put it back in and reassemble. The password will be gone.

How can i have the password bios of laptop dell E6420

f you are running Dell servers, it is recommended to enable BIOS password. This is will prevent accidental changes done to Dell BIOS settings by others who get physical access to the server.

You can setup two different types of passwords in Dell BIOS:

System Password: This will be prompted before the system can boot up, and load the operating system.
Setup password: The system will prompt for this password only when you are trying to access the BIOS settings.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to enable both the system and setup password at the BIOS level. I recommend that you at least enable BIOS password.
Press F2 for System Setup

When the Dell server is booting up, press F2 to start system setup, from where you can change Dell BIOS settings.

BIOS System Security

From the Dell BIOS main menu, scroll down to "System Security" and press enter.

Password Not Enabled

From here, you can see that both the System and Setup password is not enabled by default.

Enable System Password (and Setup Password)

Scroll to "System Password" and press enter, which will prompt you to enter the password that you like to set for the system. Please understand that if you set this password, you have to enter this password everytime you start the system. Do the same thing for Setup Password.

Don't forget this bios password. If you forget, then you have go through the painful process of resetting the Dell BIOS password.
Password is Enabled

Once you've enabled both the password, from the "System Security" menu, you'll see that that both system and setup password is enabled as shown below.

password is set

System Password Prompt (During Startup)

From now-onwards, anytime you start the system, it will not load the operating system, unless you specify the system password as shown below.

Setup Password Prompt (To Access BIOS)

If you press F2, to get to the BIOS, it will prompt for the setup password as shown below. If you don't enter a valid password here, you cannot access the Dell BIOS settings anymore.

I need a power on password or to bypass this..i have a compaq evo n600c laptop, please help me

Press F2 button (repeatedly and fast) right after pressing power on. That will take you into the BIOS setup. BE CAREFUL IN THERE. Don't make changes unless you absolutely know what they will do. Read the screen (top or bottom) for instructions on button navigation through menus (the mouse/trackpad will not work in BIOS mode). Then look for the ''Password'' screen and navigate to that screen selection. If found, change from ''enable'' to ''disable.'' If it requires the password to make that change, then you are stuck (sorry).

If this problem _is_ in your BIOS, it means either you bought this computer used and whoever sold it to you owes you either a password or a refund. Or, if this has been your computer for some time, then someone played a nasty trick on you by enabling this feature inside the BIOS when you were not around. If so, find said person and wring neck for password.

:-)

Ps... You can also try a ''Password Bypass Boot Disc'' either on sale at ebay, or various web sites. Or download the ISO of such a disc online and burn it to CD yourself. (Don't pay more than $10 for such a pre-made disc). Note that such discs will not solve the problem if it is in fact inside the BIOS (which I really think yours is). These discs are for the ''Windows User Account'' password. And again, your screen looks very much like a BIOS password to me.

Good luck.

Lost password for toshiba L355-S7827

So this is asking for a password at boot up?? Sounds like the Admin/System password is enabled.

Try this:
  1. As the computer is booting press F1, F2, or Del to enter CMOS setup.
  2. In CMOS setup when prompted for a password, guess three times until you're giving the code. If after entering the wrong password three times the computer is displaying a 5 to 8 code, as shown in the picture, continue to the next step.
  3. Write down the code and visit Dogbert's BIOS Password Backdoors scripts page to download Python and the free Python scripts to clear many of these types of passwords.

Lenovo T61 Power-on password. Hi, my Lap suddenly asks me a code that I unknow. It doesn't able access to any setup, even when I press F1 to open BIOS Setup Utility to remove. I removed Backup battery...

The BIOS password isconfigured from the BIOS setup and this password is stored on an 24RF08 EEPROM chip. There is no backdoor passwordavailable and IBM/Lenevo support says the motherboard needs to be replaced. Also removing the BIOS battery to discharge the BIOS and reset it to thedefault settings will not allow you to bypass this password. This also applies to thePower On Password and the Hard Disk Password. There is a way to crack thepassword but you need electronic skills, electronic components and severalprograms plus a working computer to carry out this task. For details on how to dothis check this WEB site.http://sodoityourself.com/hacking-ibm-thinkpad-bios-password/http://www.fixya.com/support/r4335050-remove_bios_power_password_thinkpad

Bios Password Blockd

You have to use F10 to get into setup to restore defaults. Default is no password. When you change all the setup you wanted and save all the changes then you leave setup to restart the system. If you then get blue screen, you do the ctrl-alt-del to get task manager. Which can have new task config, you click ok. Don't put in any password again in setup or task manager. Learn setup and task manager software?

Trying to remove password from windows xp by wiping the hard drive, can't get past the settings password at f2 setup. pheonix bios. need help.

Seems like you set up a password for BIOS. You can't get past without password. Only option left with you is Open the CPU(Tower) and find a small flat circular battery called as "CMOS Battery" on the motherboard
All you need to is to remove the battery and then put back in
You will not be asked for password again on Setup

Power On password has been enabled on the notebook

The power on password is configured from the BIOS and removing the BIOS battery will not reset the BIOS and remove the password as it is stored on an EEPROM chip.
This password is to protect unauthorized access to data on the laptop and the hard drive. There are no backdoor passwords available.
Ask the person who set the password, then you will be able to remove it by going into the BIOS setup.
