Any tricks to replacing the LVDS cable in Samsing LNS4051DX/XAA

Its easy but be sure the set is unplugged. The LVDS has little tabs that are on each side of the metal connection when you press in on the tabs the lvds cable slides right out of the Tcon and the other end does the same on the main board. To plug it back in press in the side tabs and then slide it squarely into the socket on the TCon and then release the pins when the connection is all the way in. 2_13_2013_1_58_03_pm.jpg

I would say either the main board or the LVDS (cable from the main board to t-con board) cable. Could be other things but I would start with having the LVDS cable checked.

Today my 55" vizio screen popped and then turned red. I unpluged and restarted everything and now the audio is on, the chanels change, but the screen is completely read. some images are readable.

If this is a VO47LFHDTV20A TV set, the problem is most likely your LVDS(cable from the main board to the t-con)cable is faulty. When you turn the set on, do you have a red screen instead of the standard blue screen? Do you also have red tints on all images on all inputs? If this is the case, your LVDS cable is bad. If you are comfortable opening up your set, track down where the LVDS cable goes into the t-con board. Turn on the set, and wiggle the cable, if the red tinting goes away, you will need a LVDS cable, about $24 part.

How to replace lvds cable

The LVDS cable has a small tab on either side of the connector which gets pressed in so the connector can be slid out of its socket.

Aluminum G4 15'' display with 3 bands. Good top, black middle, white bottom. Any idea what I need to repair this issue? Model # is A1095

You can eliminate the graphics processor as the problem by attaching an external display or TV (using the required adapters) and seeing if the image there is OK. Frankly, it's much more probable that you have a display hardware problem, either a bad LVDS cable or a bad LCD display. If you're very lucky, the problem is just a loose connector at one end of the LVDS cable; otherwise, there is no way to determine which is the problem without trying both. The LVDS cable is relatively inexpensive compared to the display upper. The display upper is sufficiently expensive that repair on a unit this old, while perfectly possible, may not be cost-efficient.
