    Applying voltage to the loading motor while it still connected to the camcorder drive circuitry is a BAD IDEA!!! You are libel to fry the drive circuits that feed the loading motor and cause more problems than you currently have. Your best solution is to take the camcorder to a qualified service shop.

    There are several things that would cause the no sound issue, but the most common in Sony 8mm camcorders is a misalignment in the tape guides. As the guides become misaligned, first the sound will go and then noise will begin to develop in the picture. If you are beginning to see noise at the top or bottom of the picture, it is likely the tape guides are moving out of alignment. That would be my first best guess. Unfortunately, the best solution is to have a technician with an oscilloscope and an algnment tape check your tape guide algnment.

    Is this on all tapes or tapes you have just recorded? Do tapes that you know had sound in the past playback now with no sound?

try rewinding the tape and play it from the beginning.if still the same,video heads may be dirty and needs to be clean.i recommend you use a dry head cleaning tape.after which reinsert tape and play it again.if issue persists use a diff tape with previous recordings.if still no go,use new tape and try recording on it,play it back and check.if still the same your unit will require service.thanks:) hope this help.

Distorted sound on playback, samsung mini dv camcorder.

Try a DV tape cleaner first. If that doesn't work, see what it would take to get the audio heads realigned. Any camera store can do that for you.

No playback on DCR-TRV103

In playback mode the lCD displays the battery time, hi8 symbol and the tape counter. all the functions work the tape will play, rewind, fast forward. The screen stays blank on playback and the tape counter stays at 0:00:00 eventhough I can see the tape turning. I also hooke the camera to my tv and I got no picture.

Hi8 playback problem

your guides have come loose , probably - the digital sound will be next to go because the bottom edge of your tapes are being folded - open the cassette tape lid by pressing the small pin near one hinge and gently lifting the door - if there are any creases ? get the guides aligned ! to protect your library ; ( if there are no creases , try a sony d8 cleaning tape - once ! before getting a repair quote ) ;
