Question about Hitachi 51SWX20B 51" Rear Projection Television
Do not have original remote and need to reset aspect ratio of hitachi 51swx20b is there a way I can factory reset it

If by saying the "aspect ratio changes" you mean the picture shrinks from top and bottom, I would suspect an intermittent short inside one of your picture tubes. The commercial skip function is not causing a problem here. It is the rapid change from dark to light that I believe is putting an extra strain on a weak or defective picture tube.

Normallly, if the format button on the remote for the television does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made. For example: A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen when an analog signal is detected. It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the hook up of the peripherals. My projector is not Hitachi but I had a similar problem. My manual suggested checking under "signal" to make sure that "auto" was "on". The thing is, there were two places where "signal" came up on the menu. I had to go under "set-up" to "signal" and then I was able to correct it by setting "auto" to "on". I hope this helps.

easy on botem vent unscrew it then u see screw in ther holding balest of the bulb unscrew it litte pull up action on its arm as u will see lift it all out to get new in then reset timer ok

sounds like image burn,try it on normal viewing size and see if its still there and in the same area if so image burn on crt from the 4:3 aspect mode .
