Re: g1 gps not working
Have you actually enabled the G1's GPS receiver within the phone ?
the GPS is not switched on out of the box aswell as Wifi and Bluetooth.
Try going into the settings and enabling the GPS Satellite receiver and then use the maps application to see if the Satellites can Triangulate your position and find where your at !
location by wireless network is very buggy and the phone will try to use that first instead of the gps, plus it will show just the location of the cell tower you are using for communication and not your actual location if it even comes up.
but If gps is just enabled it comes up fine every time.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

if you havent already charged the batteries, do that first before trying to use it...but it on the charger for a few hours, then take it outside in clear view of the open sky and turn it on...it could take up to 30 minutes to initially acquire the satellites from the off position.
try not to move the gps while its initially acquiring the satellites.
if that fails, let me know and i will help you further, but im sure someone has already told you to take it back, but the new one will do the same thing (if this is new out of the box) and please dont listen to anyone that tells you to do that or tells you to replace the batteries or even an update.
Hi happyivan8 i know tomtoms answer to this problem is to plug it in to the computer for a few hours but thats not really a fix, just an added pain in the rear.
i have 2 of these and one worked good after i updated it but the other still has the same problem and will only start after i charge it via the usb cable or unplug and plug the battery back in.
try updating it through tomtom home but it may or mayneo solve the problem. if you have already tried the update and that didnt help, i dont know what else you can do other then use it for target practice like im going to.
you can get tomtom home HERE if you dont have it already!
Well try to get your hands on either a second G1 phone or a multimeter to rule out a battery issue. If you take a charged battery from another G1 and it still doesn't turn on you will have a logic board issue. With a multimeter you can measure the battery directly, if the phones doesn't turn on if the voltage is over 3.7V, you'll have a logic board issue as well. Within one year T-Mobile should give you a replacement. If you can't get a replacement under warranty there is both an T-Mobile G1 Repair Guide and a third party T-Mobile G1 Repair Service, If you try a self-repair make sure you feel comfortable with opening devices that are not meant to be user serviceable.
hi you need to reset the unit at the back near the connection there is a small button that needs to be held down when holding the power button on for a few seconds. once you have done this turn it on and it will work fine
G1 Gps Problem Fix - I recently had the same issues with the gps giving me the location of cell towers instead of actual location. After looking around the forums, i found the fix and it worked. Clear you maps cache by going into your application data. Settings : Applications : Manage Applications : Maps : then push "clear data" Make sure both your wireless and gps are turned ON Turn off Phone Take it outside somewhere that is clear of obstructions (like a large parking lot, or field) Turn on phone Once on, press maps Let it sit in one spot for about 5-10 min, then press my location. It should find you in just a few seconds. Mine took about 30 seconds. This should fix most problems you are having.
Printhead can be washed under running hot tap to flush all the old ink away. I did mine and it didn't affect performance after drying it overnight in a warm area. Re-fitted it and away it went. Don't worry about getting connector board wet at the back.
