Your problem is most likely a format or codec problem.(you dont have the right one installed)
Download the free VLC media player here
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Its a free program that plays almost everything, without the need for downloading new codecs all the time.
If by chance this does not solve the problem, take note of the file extension of the file you are trying to play.
Google "extension + .avi" to find out what plays an avi file
google "extension +.mov" to find out that that is a QUICKTIME file.(which very well maybe as its very popular for movie cam formats)

If you dislike using VLC for some reason then you can buy and install the proper program to play the proper file kind *s* but VLC will play 99 % of files.

Thank you and good luck.*s*

    DVD-ROM drive not working

    Hi there.
It sounds like the lens on F drive has gone as i cannot read disks, there is nothing you can do about this once the lens has give up.
The best thing you can do now is remove it from the desktop and just carry on using the DVD/RW as this is the only optical drive you need because it reads and writes DVD's and CD's.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

    Can't record audio

I have converted home videos on my PC this way. I have a Sony camcorder whose output connects
to my firewire card in the PC. I also use windows Movie maker. While it is recording, I don't hear the audio. After saving the file and playing it back, I hear the audio, along with seeing the movie. Windows movie maker allows me to stop, start, and record the movie. It has complete control over the
Sony camcorder by using the firewire port on the PC.

Try uploading to your PC then converting it to AVI this keeps quality of video. Then if you want to download to a disk use Nero to convert it to VOB (DVD format) and burn off. You can also use Nero to erase the disk. (Nero 7 or more recent preferably.) You must also be sure you PC DVD read write head can take the DVD +/- RW. CHeck compatability.
