Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens
I've had this problem twice (about 3 months apart )now and have no idea what the problem is.
In the middle of taking pics, my 400D freezes, the green powerlight stays on but nothing happens, it won't take pictures, turn off or do anything. The only way to get it working again is to remove the battery. The CF card lights up red as if something is happening, sometimes it starts working again, sometimes it doesn't. I have a battery grip attached and at first thought this might have a faulty connection, but I've tried to turn it back on with the battery in the camera, without the grip and still nothing happens.
Eventually it comes back to life after a few minutes, I dont have a clue why this is happening, does this camera have a serious fault?
Sounds like the camera is writing to the CF card. If this is after taking several shots, even worse in continuous mode. That's why it won't shut off or anything, it has to finish that before it will shut down. If you have access to one try a different card. Remember to reformat it in this camera. Page 38 of your manual. If that works for you take the card into a camera shop and ask them if they will do a low format a newer camera like a XSi, then reformat it in your camera again before you use it.
