Re: Possesed TV #2
Your problem is a stuck button or buttons on the front of the set or a problem with the Microprocessor. If you know how to trouble shoot solid state electronics, you have to monitor all the scan and address lines running from the micro and make sure the b+ is not noisy. if your not an experienced tech. then replace the main board. that board is available through http://www.ptscorp.com You have to get the complete model # as Im told theres numbers after the r OF THE MODEL # YPU GAVE. that you gave. when at the site get the phone # and call them with all your info and they bwill tell you how much the rebuilt board will be to ship to you. if your not a tech you should have a trained technician replace the board for you as there ARE AND WILL BE A FEW MINOR ADJUSTMENTS THATS GOING TO BE NEEDED AFTER THE BOARD IS REPLACED.

You didn't mention the brand and model of your remote, anyway you may try the universal code below.
SHARP Codes: 004/ 009/ 079/ 095/ 111/ 112/ 114/ 122/ 123/ 124/ 173
Enter 3-digit code at a time.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
I just purchased one of these televisions and it didn't come with a remote. However, a Philips Universal Remote (SRU2103/27) with a code 0520 works fine. I haven't explored all the codes but I can easily change from tv stations to Video 1 and Video 2 merely by pressing the "Input" button on the remote. Another reply mentioned using a duraband model instead of Emerson and it worked for him.
I am sorry you don't. You will need the original remote. I have enclosed a link where you can see the original remote and order one if you want to. If you see the picture, there is a caption button on the remote to turn on and off the closed captions Good Luck. Here is the link
Universal remote control are normally programmed for basic functions, ie. chennel up down, volume up down, numbers, etc.
This is even written in the manual that they do not guarantee that all functionality can be used.
Here are your options:
1. Try all the codes that match your TV, there is a slim chance that the other code have the functionality that you need.
2. Buy the original model remote control.
3. If you know of someone that have the same TV, buy a universal remote control with 'learning' function and copy the signal from the original remote control.
I have the same problems before. Now I use my Casio wrist remote control to copy the special functions such as A/V so that even if the original remote control is lost, I can still use these functionality
I have this same problem, just started 2 days ago. Changed batteries in remote and everything - driving me nuts- now i cannot change channel or adjust volume! I powered off TV, took batteries out of remote, turned back on and now still stuck. I think we bought junk!
