Hi,

Initially based on your description, I am tempted to think that your XX has a faulty CCD lens, the actual camera itself. Should this be the case, you may have to consider:

  • seeking the services of an authorized service center;
  • seeking the services of a qualified professional;
  • cost of repair and downtime. In most instances, it may be to your advantage acquisition of a replacement.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Will not read blank media so that I can record.

Ok, Firstly it sounds like you have reasonable knowledge on what you're doing.
But just to clarify a few things.
1.You say you have tried a couple of different brands of disc.Unless they are of good quality
or compatible with your machine they may not work properly.Try TDK or Verbatim for example.
Also make sure they are DVD-R or DVD-RW.
2.If no blank discs are successful,then you may need to clean the laser lens thoroughly.
I know you said you cleaned the lens,but was this with a lens cleaner disc?
If so it will only remove dust not built up grime from other sources such as smoke from cigarettes.
This would entail taking the cover off the unit and cleaning the laser lens directly with a
cotton bud dipped in cleaning fluid.If you are not confident in doing this,then you
would need to get someone qualified to do so!
I have gotten many DVD Players and DVD Recorders working again doing this.

Software needed to download JVC GR-DVL707

most cam corders either have cables that come with it that will plug into your vcr or you will need a firewire connector ( if you post back with make and model of your cam corder ) you should be able to go from there.

The manuals should tell you how.

Generally speaking a firewire cable should allow you to do it.

Lost instructions, cannot create DVD from cam-corder recording

Thanks, I already solved the problem. There was no "Setup" button (on the remote, anyway) to follow the instructions given -- in the manual, which I downloaded!.

Instead, I remembered that "Input" often allows you to select a source for something, so when I chose THAT button, I was able to choose the port that had my cam-corder.

Then I simply pressed record on the DVD player while Play on the C-C.

DVD recording.

Sounds like the DVDR is recording from the digi-box through the TV, so when the TV is switched of or into standby the signal is lost, causing the recorder to pause.

Assuming the digi-box has two scart sockets, connect as follows:

  • Scart 1 or TV scart of the digi-box to the TV.
  • Scart 2 or VCR/DVD scart of the digi-box to scart 1 of the DVDR3380.
The TV aerial should already be connected through the digi-box and DVDR3380 to the TV

To record from the digi-box, select AV1 / E1 / EXT1 on the DVDR3380

Could be the dvd player/lens. The player sucks up dust through the
player's caddy and after a while it won't read discs anymore.
A cd cleaner or a good (gently dosed) blow with compressed air might help.
