My computer hybernated and I left it for a bit until i put the charger in as I was busy, before i even put the charger in the power button was flashing and the battery bit at the front was flashing as well as the half moon. sometimes all the lights at the front flash orange, but i can't turn it on and they're constantly flashing green. I've tried plugging it in, holding my finger down on the power button for 6 seconds but nothing happens.

If it does not work with the Charger while the battery is out then I would say either your charger is bad, the dc power jack where the charger plugs into the laptop is bad or you've got motherboard issues. Does the charger have a light on it to indicate that it is on when plugged in the wall? Do you see any lights when you plug the charger into the laptop?
Take an ink pen and see if the little pin inside the computer where the charger plugs is loose and moves a bit. If so that is probably your problem. If the pin is tight and the charger works, then you've got motherboard issues.
The first thing to do is check that the charger is putting out the correct voltage, which should be ~18 volt. Then try to start it without the battery. If your voltage is OK and the battery out makes no difference, then I would suspect that you have a motherboard problem that must be fixed. If the computer starts up if you wiggle the DC plug where it goes into the computer, then it's the DC jack that is looks and must be re-soldered.
When your laptop goes into hybernation, all files are saved as they were. As soon as you re-start your computer, it will open all files and programs as they were before hybernation started, so YES, you can retrieve everything as it was before.
be sure the computer ios plugged into a charger, to be sure the batteries are charged.
Turn the PC on, when it is booting up, keep hitting "F8" until windows boot options come up, choose "Safe Mode" and then once it boots into safe mode fully, go to the start menu and choose shut down. After it shuts down, turn it back on and it should go back into normal mode. From now on, don't use Hibernate, its buggy and has been since XP.
It almost sounds like the computer has went into hybernation mode. I would hold the switch down until i heard a click (should take about 20 to 30 seconds). If that doesn't work I would find an authorized repair center for Acer computers.
