Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
I've cleaned the waste pads on my Canon ip6300 and I need to reset counter--I still keep getting the "waste ink absorber is nearly full" message & having to go back to the printer to hit the OK/reset button to print. I've tried a number of variations of holding down buttons and powering up, click, click, click..... nothing I have found in my searches has reset it yet. I even uninstalled/reinstalled the printer in hopes of a fresh start. Any tips for re-setting the old counter?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

For Canon ip1000 and ip1600, maybe others
1. remove cartridges
2. unplug AC power
3. hold power button and plug AC power (keep holding power button.
4. press resume 4 times
The waste ink counter should be reset by now

I have the same problem, but Jet Tec waste inks. When I first replaced black (pgi 5bk)-don't forget to place the small chip from the original cartridge to replacement; it worked fine. But now, it has a lot of problems because this **** printer from canon only want original inks (and the original are tooooooooo expensive). I'll never bought anything else from canon.

SOURCE: Waste ink tank / absorber
you need to dismantle the printer by opening the scanner lid, pinging the blue arm out of the white retainer with a screw driver, flip the scanner lid right over onto the desk on the LH side of the printer - it will come off its hinges for this. lay it lid down on the LH side of the printer - be careful not to snap the power and data cable connecting with the base. Next you have to remove the 4 retainer screws in order to remove the plastic cover over the rest of the base. The pad and ink box are at the rear on the right hand side.
