Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Notebook

2 Answers

Prior to today my laptop was working fine (wirelessly). I have just switched on now & there is a message to say that 'A Network cable is unplugged'. Now, being new to all this internet thing I dont know what that means, especially since i have not touched anything or unplugged any cable to any network. Can you help me as to what has gone wrong between today & yesterday (other thatn the clocks going back).

I have the same problem but it keeps asking me about my wireless communication switch (which says off) How do I turn it back on? I was not having any problems then it says I am not connected. I have been using wireless on the laptop for the past month.

All it means is you haven't put a ethernet cord connecting your laptop to your router. Since you are using wireless it is not a problem.

I can figure out that your laptop runs Windows Vista. Go to Control panel, then Network and Sharing centre and then go to Manage Network Connections and see if the Wireless Network Connections icon is disabled, make sure it is enabled and not connected. Try disabling and enabling it again. If still no go, try to manually turn off the wireless switch and turn it back ON. Check the light status (if any), confirm the error message too. If still, it seems not to be working, then the internal switching might have gone bad. You need to get the laptop serviced.

Arvind

Wireless no longer accesses router

OK try this go to that PC, go START>>RUN>>service.msc (enter) Now when services window comes up, scroll down to DHCP, set to OFF & Disable, reboot, now try again. Sometimes just a Turn it ALL OFF, and ON again and most often it will sort itself out., IF it was working OK prior. You could always run the "Connect to internet Wizard" again, and do that. Also go into router and ensure that DHCP, is set to ON in the Router. Sometimes, a simple re-setup will get it all working again too.

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

Wireless router, laptop problems

Try to delete all the prefered networks. Right-Click Wireless Network Connection, View Available Wireless Networks. Click on Change the Order of Prefered Networks. Remove all prefered networks there and click OK. Now try to View the available wireless networks again, reconnect to your own wireless network and see if it connects fine. Post your feedback.
