Sansui Model no SAN 5452, text on screen

The word FACTORY appears on screen, does not go away, 30 seconds after tv being turned on, the word Factory changes to FAC, and remote only will change channels using the up/down channel buttons and the volume up/down buttons, when the whole word 'FACTORY' is on the screen, i don't have the manual anymore

i have the same probelm. the instruction manual does not quote a code to remove the 'FAC'

  • dee112 Mar 24, 2009

same problem.... factory appears in red, change to "fac" after couple of seconds... volume control then disabled; to change volume i have to enter & exit menu, which cause "fac" to change to "factory" again for a couple of seconds - it appears that you can change the volume while the word "factory" is displayed, but when this change to "fac" its like it is blocking remote control volume input.

I also have a Sansui, but a different model - VC5152 (not 100% sure of the number now)

I think , there shoud be an option as (factory mode ---- on/off) in system , if true then modify it first.
if not true check all features in the menu for several times . other wise finally notedown the tv model number and buy a service modes for colour telivision , i think this boook is published by bpb. and search in that book for that tv model . adjust the service codes as there ...

if not available that book please mail me.

turn off the closed captions or select c1 to view the captions. Right now they are set for text and that is what is causing the black box to appear

Black box comes up on tv screen

The black box is a text box for closed captioning. Some stations send the signal which turns on the box while not actually broadcasting any text. Go into your setup menu and turn off closed captioning, or at least change it to a different mode. The easiest option is to restore factory presets.

Mute and C on the screen

The TV is in factory or demo mode - turn tv off and unplug it from wall outlet for 30 seconds - turn tv back on after 30 seconds and see if problem goes away. If not, press the (volume -) and (channel -) buttons repeatedly for about 10 seconds to see if "C" will go away. If this fails call 1-888-PHILIPS for further assistance (they do Magnavox also).
