SOURCE: trouble ejecting slide from SF200 nikon coolscan 4000 ed

open the case of the scanner, and check to make sure that the ejection mechanism is not malfunctioning, or jammed someway.  If this is not the problem, try using thinner slides as thicker ones could also cause this.  If all else fails try un plugging the scanner for a few minutes, and try again.

SOURCE: yellow color cast to scanned slides

It's been several years since I used my Coolscan IV, so I've updated the drivers, got it talking to the computer, imported the image into Photoshop CS2. The image colors are way off, red is green, another slide has a blue cast, etc. I've turned the scanner off and on several times, reloaded the drivers, played with the settings, etc. What else can I do?

SOURCE: My Nikon CoolScan 4000 is not working properly.

I had the same problem with coolscan LS 50 ed, but the chromatic dominant was blue instead. What you have to do is to perform a p.o.s.t. procedure: 1) swith off the scanner and unplug it from the PC; 2) switch off the PC; 3) remove the film-holder from the scanner; 4) switch on the scanner; 6) plug it back to the PC; 7) switch on the PC; 8) insert the slide/film holder. It should work now...

Recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Where can I get correct drivers to run with my Nikon Super Coolscan slide scanner LS-4000 ED model. I have Nikon Scan 3.0 twain software. Stu Milligan

Hello there.
This will help you if you have 64-bit Windows 7, because officially, there is not windows 7 64 bit driver.
Just read and do everything.

Otherwise, if you have windows 7 32bit click here:

To check bits, go right click on My Computer, Properties, and you will see it.

Nikon Super Coolscan Jam Solution

e487dc7.jpg

Do you find your older slides, cardboard slides, or irregular slides jam in the Nikon SF-210 Slide Feeder for your Nikon CoolScan 4000?

Try this solution:

Take a AAA battery and place it in rear, left side of the slide feeding tray as pictured below:

3448982.jpg

The slides will fan out nicely, and your Nikon CoolScan will no longer try to load more than one at a time. Instead it will load them one at a time, 50 per tray, and you can actually walk away from it and let it do its job, just the way you intended to when you bought the SF-210 slide feeder attachment!

I hope that helps.

Unsharp scans

Sometimes this is caused by scanning a Kodachrome or thick emulsion slide on the "Positive" setting. Set it to Kodachrome and try again.

Sometimes this is caused by dust on the reflector mirror. I know it was a big problem here.
Ifyour scanner is under warranty, you can ship it in to have itcleaned to their service center, or if not, you can give it a shot yourself. Iwould only do this if you are a mechanically inclined person and arewilling to do it RIGHT. Here's a link to instructions:
http://www.pearsonimaging.com/articles/howto/ls5000cleaning.html
Irecommend reading through it at least once before beginning, and makesure you've got the materials you need on hand as well as a cleanworkspace. It worked on our machines. I give them a once over every so often to keep them sharp.

After scanning one photo slide and storing it on my computer, I can't delete this first scan to scan another

It's not necessary to delete the previous scanned photo. To scan another slide, place it in the scanner and press the PREVIEW button.

Just curious... did you unplug the unit for a period of time, or did you only power it off? I would definitely unplug it for about ten minutes, then plug it back in.

Overall Blue Tint

You might try resetting the "settings" to factory defaults and then scanning again. I have seen strange tints if the settings get set incorrectly, not sure exactly what is wrong. However, using factory defaults corrects the problem, then change settings one at a time.

Scanning

Sometimes the software works strangely, with no indication why. Usually it has to do with the many settings which seem to change periodically or when you try to modify settings and something unintended happens. Try resetting the "settings" to factory defaults, see if it makes any difference. If this does not work, try removing the software and re-installing.

Coolscan 4000

Well, I finally discovered the solution to my problem of not being able to scan...the scanner had several broken parts inside including pieces of plastic wheels and such as well as a spring jammed in the upper slide rail. So, it was not able to re-set or move into the proper position to begin a scan. I called the Nikon repair facility in Las Angles and they wanted $200 to check it out plus parts to fix it. So, instead, I purchased a Coolscan V and it works great! I still have the broken Coolscan IV and may try and have it fixed someday.
