That can be caused by alot of different things based on model. Need to know the model number of the set and also wether the power indicator blinks or goes out when the set shuts down.

The power supply board is dead.That the board where the power a/c cord plug into it.Replaced the power supply board will solved this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

This seems to be a problem in the Power Supply I would think. Either that or a fault that is overloading the PSU.
This means a trip to the repair shop.
Make sure ya get a firm "Quote" for tha fix before proceeding.

how often does this happen ? is it tripping random

look at the power supply panel for dry joints especially around the transformers etc

TV powers on, then cuts off by itself. After many on-off tries, tv goes to menu and through it, then cuts off.

TV CUTTING OFF


Check this, for how long the TV is on? 30 min., 45min, 1 hour? because maybe you have accidentally programmed the SLEEP control. If so, go to the set up options or menu with the remote control and check the status of the sleep power off time. Or maybe the TV has the otion to power off automaticly set the same way that is the alarm turn on.

Picture cut off


check your picture default settings. It may be set to Zoom, If not check your Cable box setting. Press settings and go to picture size. Make sure its set to Normal or Stretch.
