Question about Cobra MicroTalk PR150-2VP 2-Way Radio
I would like to know if anyone can estimate what sort of useable range I can expect from this model of 2-way radio, when being used within a shallow valley with relatively sparse vegetation (small trees) between the two radios?
All depends on radio power out, those types of radios are on the absolute lowest end of the radio spectrum, only putting out about 1/2 watt to maybe 1 at most 2 watts of power in some of the other models. so with that low of a power out 1/2 to 1 watt, you will not get much at all, MAYBE one floor in a building and prob less than 1/2 mile outside, depending on obstructions, hills, trees, buildings. you'd need to upgrade to some higher power radios that run at least $ 250 each to get some decent coverage. The range estunated for this radios is very poor, is related with the enviroment, the vegetation could decrese sifnificative your range. The specs for this radio says is for 4 milles, but with line of sight, every thing between the line of sight will decrese your range. Neto
