Question about D-Link DIR601 WirelessN 150 Home Router and DLink DWA125 Wireless 150 USB Adapter Bundle

Open Question

Router is dead

Hi Friends, I was trying to install openvpn at my home. I installed dd-wrt firmware for my Dlink DIR601 router. I was following this guide http://www.howtogeek.com/64433/how-to-install-and-configure-openvpn-on-your-dd-wrt-router/. After that to enable vpn flavour in my firmware i downloaded dd-wrt.v24_vpn_generic.bin from internet and uploaded. As soon as uploading completed i lost my connection with router and router power light became orange. Now i am getting only that orange power light on router's dashboard. I tried to reset router lots of time and removed power supply also but router is not responding. Is there a way out for me or i just lost my router? Regards, Vijay

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

- Logon to the configuration page of your D-Link.
- Go to Advanced tab
- And Click on Firewall Settings on the left side
- Under that look for Application Gateway Level at the bottom and you must uncheck at the box on it and click on save settings at the top.

Update your firmware to the latest. I had the same issue and the issue is gone after the upgrade.

DD WRT is a firmware upgrade sight you can find wonderful firmware upgrades that make your router come to life and Evan worth more than you payed for your original router, check the router database and see if your router is listed and capable for an upgrade to dd wrt, i did it with my dir615 and it gave me a whole host of additional optins for configurations , it was a long search for "dd wrt" but well worth it.

Client Mode or 2nd Wireless Router with new Subnet Mask?

The original firmware does not have this option, but you can get a custom firmware at http://www.dd-wrt.com/

DD-WRT is not supported by linksys, so a little caution there as this could ruin your router if it is not installed properly. Fortuately they have plenty of documentation on installation and troubleshooting if needed.

Also found this on how to setup Client Mode through DD-WRT - http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Mode_Wireless

I want a router that supports ipV6

Hi there. If you want a home router, the only one I know of is the Apple Airport Extreme - http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/specs.html?aosid=p204&siteid=1503186&program_id=2554&cid=OAS-EMEA-AFF&tduid=e7367d6ee6a689760197e36025f1756e . Any DD-WRT capable router can support it though, if you install the DD-WRT firmware. Check out this site for help with that - http://dd-wrt.com/site/index. Any professional series Cisco router will support it. I would be careful with IPv6 though - most ISPs don't support it yet. Good luck! Alex

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

Just bought this Router ASUS RT N16. I upgraded the firmware to DD-WRT. Then upgraded to Tomato firmware following instructions found on the net. Router worked fine with DD-WRT but when I did the install...

If the device is dead in the water as a result of flashing the firmware - then I'd bring it back for either my money back or even exchange. I'd explain that during a firmware update, it became unresponsive. That's it.

I'd flash the replacement to DD-WRT firmware for your particular router again. Make sure you've got the right firmware file for your router's hardware revision too. I'd hold off on flashing to Tomato. (I use DD-WRT to perform wireless bridging w/ two Linky WRT54Gs and haven't had to do a thing to them in 3 years now - I must admit that I'm not familiar with Tomato). There's got to be an issue with the Tomato upgrade procedure you followed, firmware file or a mismatch on hardware revision of the router. I'd want to find out what that problem is before attempting it again. I doubt the store would be very understanding if you showed up with yet another dead router.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

Our cicso Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N disconnects frequently.. please help..

If you know your way around computers and related devices go to http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index and download the software for your device and install it. This is a much better solution than the stock firmware provided by linksys. !!!!!! WARNING !!!!! if you aren't comfortable installing it don't as you could brick your router. There are plenty of resources on the site to get it installed however.

Repeater router responds with 'Address not found...'

You need to start from scratch.

Whenever you need answers they can be found here -
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=785382853553ee7844cfab78da0607db

But best to start with the Wili - http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation

And here is your get out of jail card -
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=Recover_from_a_Bad_Flash

If you have to resort to the hard method of recovery, be careful.
I have only ever permanently killed one router - doing this - http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net/redhat/wrt54g_revival.html

You will first need to establish which model router you have. Then you will (assuming you want to use DD-WRT firmware) need to flash a micro or mini firmware. Then you flash again, using the standard.
There are many users worldwide using your WRT54G and GL routers with other than standard firmware, me included. I manage a network of 9 routers running DD-WRT V23SP2 standard.

Don't give up, and when it says to leave it 30 seconds (or 2 minutes) DO! Be patient...

Installation of router

This is the linux version of the 54G router. It is assumed anyone using this router is loading their own custom firmware such as dd-wrt for which all the instructions are on the dd-wrt website.
