Question about Kitchen Ranges

KitchenAid gas range control panel control completely lock

We have a KitchenAid gas range model KGRC608LS0. When cooking dinner, my wife might have accidentally pressed certain key/keys when she tried to clean the surface of the control panel. The result was that the entire panel was locked up. We could not reset the clock , use the number pad, the regular/convection oven controls, or the control lock. Nor would pressing the Cancel Off control unlock the panel. But "Baked Goods" among the EASYCONVECT Conversion controls did work (I didn't test the other two controls). I was then able to set the cook time to 2 minutes hoping that at the end of it the entire control panel would be released. It was not and I was not able to turn the Baked Good control off either. I then shut off power to the range for some minutes to try to force the control panel to reset itself. It didn't work. When I turned power back on, the oven remained in Baked Good mode and a new message on the display prompted for more cook time. I had to turn off the gas. We did not use the range for two days. On the second day, while waiting for the service guy to come to our rescue, I decided to check the control panel one more time. To my surprise, I was able to reset the clock, and further tests showed that the entire control panel was working normally. My questions are: 1. What my wife might have accidentally done to lock up the entire control panel? 2. What should I do to unlock the panel if the same thing happens again? Thanks.

Hi robertkbrown...you may want to try to following steps.....good luck my friend...chris If ?LOC DOOR? is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control: Motorized Switch 1. With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel. 2. Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed. 3. While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps. 4. Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds. 5. When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it. 6. Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear. 7. The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service. Manual Switch 1. Press the Clean pad. 2. Close the door. 3. Slide the latch to lock the door. 4. Hit the cancel button immediately. 5. Unlock the door.

Kitchen aid gas range model kgsa906pss. After using self clean oven door is locked and control panel is out. There is power through the thermal fuse. What else should I check?

Try unplugging the unit for about 10 minutes and then plugging it back in. If the problem persists call for service especially if under warranty.

We have a kitchen aid KGSA906PSS00 gas range. for the first time today the wife decided to run the self clean function. At some point through the self clean the oven shut off and the control panel died....

Sounds like my problem two days ago. I have a Kitchen Aid free standing gas oven/range model
KGRI801PWH00. I read online that the thermo-fuse might've blown. I found the thermo-fuse after removing the rear panel. It was at the top/center. Mine is T-O-D (brand) 60F24; Westinghouse #8300802. I ordered mine from appliancepartspros.com for only $34.75; arrived in 36 hrs with regular shipping!! Easy to fix, sure beats several hundred $$ to repairman.

Don't bother to call Kitchen Aid - they'll just blow you off just like the hundreds of complaints said that I found online.

It has a safety that will not allow the door to open while the temperature is high in the oven. oven temps can reach 700 degrees during the self clean cycle. allow the unit to cool completely and see if it works then. if not, let us know.

After using the self-clean cycle, display panel went black and oven door stayed locked.

Happens alot dont feel bad , self clean mode runs the elements at 500 deg. to cook off everything possible , what happens is the cabinet gets to hot and heats saftey temp. fuses until they go out and they are not resetable. they are always located in different areas of ranges but usaully in the back. you can ohm them out to check them if you have a meter.let me know if you have any other questions.

I have the same problem as djeff757 post on Kitchenaid KDRP467

I don't recall a control panel fuse for this model, there is, however, a thermal cut-off on the rear of the unit. The part number is 8300802 and you simply have to remove the rear panel to access it.

Can't turn oven off

Over the 2008 Hoildays while baking, our Kitchenaid range (KGSA906PSS) "off" button would not turn off the gas oven portion of the range. The two ways we could turn off the oven was to either set a "stop cooking" timer for one minute or to go the main electical breaker box and cut off the electricity to the the range - either way- not a good way. We called Kitchenaid Customer Service at 1-800-334-6889 and stated the problem. We were concerned that this was a safety issue since we could not turn off our gas oven without resorting to the timer or breaker methods. The warranty for the electronics touchpad is from 2-5 years according to our owners manual. We have had the range since Aug. 2005.

We provided our model #, serial#, date of purchase and answered some other questions. Kitchenaid did determine this to be a safety issue and in doing so, our replacement part and labor will be provided free of charge.

Even if your warranty has expired, I would still call Kitchenaid first since this is a safety issue.

Dual fuel kitchenaid; burners work, oven does not

I had a similar problem. There's a thermostat before the control panel. You need to remove the knobs and the front panel to get to it. You'll also need to remove a couple of trim pieces to keep from bending the panel. The part number is Whirlpool W10017820, sells for about $40.
