Question about Insignia Televison & Video

Insignia tv won't play vhs

I have an insignia tv and I am trying to watch a vhs tape on it through my vcr/dvd player. It's connected with the red/white/yellow cables. The dvd part works fine but when I play a vhs the video and sound will skip on and off. I know the problem is not the vcr/dvd player because it works fine on another tv. Is this tv just not compatible or am I supposed to connect it in a different way? Thanks

SOURCE: Cannot timer record with Insignia HD TV and LG DVR/VCR

Make sure when you do the process two things: one, a blank tape or If it is a dvd recorder, a blank disk is inserted, in the tape make sure the tab that prevents recording is not broken. Two, before exit the timer recording menu, make sure that there is not a instruction that says "done" or "confirm" or any word meaning that all the steps went through.

Yes, that is correct you need composite (or coax) cabling to your TV. The unit cannot carry the VHS signal via component video or digital audio cabling

I think this stems from the fact there is no VGA mode designation (not plug and play) however there are VGA H&V settings that may be overidden from autodect mode under ADVANCED in teh menu. What sux is that it isnt stored and must e reset when input changes. FIRMWARE UPDATE PLEASE INSIGNIA!

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

I have a 8 mm camera connected to the front inputs I have the Insignia plugged in and av2 mode i have a dvdr in the machine I simply hit the record button and nothing happens? I just want to plug my camera...

can't do it that way. you'll need to plug it in to the tv, play it on the tv, and the video output from the tv to the dvd player. make sure you have the correct format of the dvds for that player. some formats of dvds does not work for certain dvd recorders.

let me know what other issues you have

How do I record my vhs tapes to Disk

I have done a lot of dubbing on my machine. First make sure the DVD is formatted. When you put in a new disc it should ask you if you want to initialize. Once that is done, switch to VCR mode. push play on the VCR then push the DUB button on the front of the machine. I hope it helps.

VCR has sound but no picture

Your video head are dirty
Needs cleaning
> use denatured alcohol and shamos sticks
> clean tape guides also / they will have residue that will transfer to the video heads.
> be careful not to snag the heads.<<< very delicate
> professional should do the cleaning
hope this helps.

Did you try using teh SV cables supplied or the RF cable?
Easier to use the AV Cables. 100% should work. Connect Video OUT of VCR ro VIDEO IN of TV and AUDIO OUT (L) and (R) of VCR to AUDIO IN (L) & (R) of TV. Select AV or VIDEO on TV using TVs remote. Play a Cassette. should work!!
