Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. If the machine seems to be blocked, our online troubleshooting guide should be useful in finding and clearing any obstructions:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=954&product=DC17-ANIMAL

It's also a good idea to wash the filter - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I hope this helps - if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 1-866-693-9766, or email your details to askdysonUS@dyson.com.

Best wishes,

Jack

Dyson vacum shot off

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting.

You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

Dyson dc28 animal

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC28 won't recline into the normal vacuuming position, it's possible that an object such as a pen has been accidentally vacuumed up, and is jamming the changeover valve. To check for this, please unplug the vacuum and lie it on its side, then open the airway inspection port and remove any objects or debris:

This should resolve the issue, but if you would like some further help from our experts after giving this a try, please call us on 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

the actuator in the switch is defective, you can replace just the switch. There are several places to get just the switch, just google "dyson dc07 parts" for places on where to get the switch.
