there is no way to clean the inside of the glass. The CRT is a completely sealed unit and unless there has been a malfunction, there should be nothing on the inside of the glass. The way CRT's work is a photon gun shoots electricity at the inside of the screen, which is coated with a layer of phosphur. this excites the phosphur and makes it glow with color, forming the picture that you see. Even if you could get at the inside of the glass, you wouldn't be able to clean it becuse you would wipe away the phosphur coating.
katochan35, You may need to do extensive search over on YOUTUBE. I believe I saw a video clip of some owner who completely dismantled a lcd monitor and it's LCD panel. As I recall there are at least 4 layers of plastic sheeting that cover the actual glass lc panel, some of which are polarizing films that must be replaced in the exact physical orientation as before or it will not work when reassembled. This WILL NOT be a simple task. I'm a old electronics technician and wouldn't even think of trying to do it. 12fixlouie
First off it could be the backlight bulb or the LCD inverter. I would try the LCD inverter first it will cost about $25 and is easy to get to Take the face plate off around the monitor and the LCD inverter is at the bottom. It looks like a strip of circut board with plastic coating over it. Most of the time it is the LCD inverter.
But if its the Backlight bulb you might be able to take it to a local tv repair shop. you can order the backlight bulbs online but they are gragile and tricky to replace. you have to seperate the layers of glass on the screen abd the backlight will be at the top inbetween the layers of glass. If you do decide to do make sure to wear rubber gloves because the oiles from your fingers will get inbetween the glass layers and cause foggy spots when you put it back together.
Unfortunately, most lcd panels have a polarization filter in the front, this looks like a plastic coating that is actually in front of the glass of the lcd panel, if it's scratched, there is no real way to fix this problem other than replacement.
Take the drive out and carefully take off the top. The lase shines through a very small glass cover that looks like a small light bulb. Clean the very fine layer of dust off of this glass "eye" and this MIGHT fix your problem. I have seen this happen dozens, if not hundreds of times. Keever
there will double glass covering... what we see on the surface of the monitor is another glass covering there will be one more glass covering layer behind that... so on the above it might have broken... c whether the picture is coming in that ...
I did that to a Toshiba laptop long ago, happens to the best of us. I think they?re referring to the LCD panel itself not a piece of glass you can replace. Usually the outer layer you can touch is a plastic/vinyl layer that covers the outer glass layer. Behind that is another sheet of glass and sandwiched in-between is the liquid crystal material. All of this is bound together as one unit and not repairable.
