Question about Vulcan EF3 Deep Fryer
The plastic piece on the gas control knob broke off so now there is just a phillips head screw. How can i light the pilot? A temporary fix would be wonderful to get me through the weekend. Please help.

That knob is a pilot safty valve it is not your problem. Your problem is the m/v signal generator. This is either a thermocouple or a thermopile depending on the setup of your model. Look for a small copper line coming from the pilot area going to the pilot safty valve that is the tcouple or tpile. Replace this and I am sure you will be good to go.

Set the thermostat to 350 degrees,get a thermometer and put it in the oil,when the unit shuts off look at the temp of the oil.If the temp of the oil is higher then the thermostat is bad if not the hi-limit may be.Let me know.
