SOURCE: ice maker not making ice

Water solenoid to ice maker not working. Check with ohm meter..should NOT read open
Water line to Ice maker frozen solid. Look at water inlet to ice maker....is ice present in line?
Evaporator coils frozen over with ice. Will cause water line to freeze and unit will slowly thaw.
Try unplugging the unit for several hours and see if it starts to cool normally again. If it cools normally then check heater element and Defrost Thermostat.

Amanda side by side wont dump ice. What can I do to fix. Have no money

Hello zinnas - If your refrigerator has completely stop making ice, try checking the following:

· It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again.

· Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

· When was the last time the filter was changed? Most side-by-side filters are recommended to be change approximately every 6-9 months depending on your water usage and frequency. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice or have a clogged water filter. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts!

· Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

If any of these suggestions prove to be infective, connect with a professional to accurately pinpoint any potentially more serious issues.

My Frigidaire model SRF24ZRH ice maker needs to be replaced but power supply runs threw the back of the refrigerator, how do it remove and replace the ice maker?

There is a quci connect on the ice maker where the wires run along side of ice maker. Without the complete model number of fridge I can not see the wire harness. Usually it quick connects into another quick connect sometimes inside the frezzer wall that can be removed. Otherwise ir quick connects into the side of icemaker.

Even after good cleaning drain hole in upper freezer freezes over and some ice gathers near ice maker near upper left coils, could ice maker cause this or should drain hole stay open?

if when you pour hot water into the drain hole and water drains down through the hole the drain is clear,if water doesn't drain down the drain is still blocked,i use a steemer to clear the drain and install a heater in the drain so it doesn't happen again.you can buy a heater or make one out of the ground wire that's in a piece of house wire or strip the casing off of a piece of cable wire around 6 inches, stick it into the hole and wrap the other end around the heater in the freezer, when the heater turns on the wire also heats up keeping the drain from freezing up.if the drain is clear then you could have a problem with the ice maker or the fill valve is letting to much water flow through to the ice maker, you'll have to keep an eye on it when it fills to see what is causing the problem. Ice maker will not dipense ice

Hello, Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If these wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turn off.On some unit you simply lowered the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in proper position, check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahrenheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seal and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.
Thanks

Crosley side by side ice maker makes to much ice !!!!!!

Most ice makers have a wire bar that senses when the ice bucket is full. The bar lifts up when new ice is made. The ice maker determines if the ice bucket is full by lowering the bar back down after the ice drops into the bucket. If the bar hits the ice cubes in a full bucket, the ice maker shuts off. If the bar drops all the way and dosen't touch ice cube, the ice maker continues making ice until the bucket is full.

So you likely have one of the following problems:
1) The wire bar is missing or bent. Check to make sure that when the bar is pushed up, the ice maker stops making ice. Most bars will 'click' into the up position so you can shut the ice maker off. Push the bar up until it clicks into the up position and wait overnight to see if it makes more ice. If there is no wire bar over the ice bucket, that is your problem.

2) The switch the wire bar is connected to is malfunctioning. If you push the wire bar up and the ice maker continues to make ice, this is likely your problem. You will need a new ice maker unit. Try Appliance Parts Pros or EBay for a new unit.
