well we are having a weird problem with the conv. it is doing a 3d effect only in the

corners of the tv though.. and we were told that it was with the color guns... does this sound right? any other advice? thanks.

The convergence goes out on all four corners, and then a normal picture will come back. Sometimes it will stay out of convergence for several minutes longer. This problem only recently started within the the last 3-4 weeks.

Same problem, but it is transient. Will go out of whack for a few seconds or minutes then return to normal. Can also get to return to normal after a sharp rap on the top of the cabinet. Seems like a weak connection somewhere.

this may need a conversion or just some resistors replaced. can you test components or are you going to need a repair technician?

  • jason May 11, 2010

does it have three color CRT's or is it lamp projected thru a block?

This tv will need some testing to determine the exact cause but most likely it will need a conversion done, you will need to call your local repair shop to come out and fix the problem
sorry about your tv

The set has a bowed appearance and the 3 colors have seperated. I imagine the bulb(s) are going as it's a old set.

The arching of color can be adjusted on the color gun by slighty turning the screw on the gun Blue, Green, Red. This fixes the arching and or fade-blinking in and out of color. The gun on my 65" sony is inthe front of the set. Removing the front panel grants me access to this. You may have to access it from the back on your model. Looks like a small box with 3 screws ont he front. Hope that helps...

My Tv has red light (color) out of focus..I've tried tuning the lance but it's not the problem in the lance..it's something else..don't know what..do you?

Your TV has three picture tubes which are aligned to properly converge the projected light beams on the screen. Each picture tube projects a single color of Blue Green or Red. During production your TV was carefully adjusted to properly align these colors. As a feature you have the ability to adjust these colors.thats called convergence. If you don't have a manual to show you how to adjust you can find one here http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/support.html

Mitsubishi problem

This is a very common failure on Projection sets. Its called a convergence problem.

You may have one or more of the following symptoms.
  • Screen looks 3D
    Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
    Screen is bowed or warped.
    No Audio / No Video

You can see some examples and find a fix here...

The first thing you need to do is to take away the color completely, then you adjust the hue until you get the picture looking like a black & white tv, like the old shows that were broadcast in black & white.
Then you can gradually add the color. And thats it your done!

Blue Gun non-responsive

blue crt gun is dead... it has to be replaced. Check carefully the gun neck if theres a crack or damage, I'm suspecting  an overheating yoke ( a bunch of wires around or embracing the crt gun's neck), if theres a sign of overheating, you need to replace the yoke too, not doing it, your new gun will suffer the same fate of the old one, wasting your money.
