SOURCE: is there a reset or fuse to restore power on a brother MFC-7820N

yes, there is a fuse, two actually, inside the unit. My 7820N died after a power surge. here is how I fixed it.

unplug the power cord
raise the glass/ feeder assembly
open the front cover and remove the toner cartride.
Remove the phillips screw on the right side of the printer (same side as the power switch)
open the back paper path cover and remove the phillips screw
Flip the printer on its side and using a small screwdriver, press in the tabs that hold on the side cover. as with everything plastic, be careful since things break easily.

Once the side cover is off, remove the screws holding down the large metal cover over the power supply
Remove the screws holding the circuit board.
remove the three connectors on the front side of the board and flip it around.

By the time you have reached this point, you have probably noticed little pieces of fuse and MOV scattered around the inside of the unit, assuming you had a good power spike.

The fuse that blew for me as a 4 amp, fast blow fuse. It is soldered into the circuit board. I unsoldered the ends of the fuse that remained and soldered in a new 4 amp 5x20mm fast blow fuse. the MOV was also blasted, but I didn't have one of those to replace it and you can't get them at Radio Shack. I'll just plug it into a surge suppressor which will accomplish the same thing.

After reassembling, I was back in business.

SOURCE: Problems with Brother MFC-7820N Laser Printer turns itself off

I just had same issue, it shared an outlet with a large volume work group copier, I unplugged it, opened and closed all compartments to make sure something open was not causing issues. I plugged it into different outlet and it appears to be back online. I have read some postings that this model has been known to draw over 15 amps. Its possible its starving for power. To test take to another room, plug in outlet by itself and see if it boots up.

HOW DO I un-lock the scanner on a Brother MFC 7420?

Unfortunately, the MFC-7420 doesn't have a physical lock switch. You need to turn off the all-in-one and wait for the unit to clear its memory. If the error recurs after you press the power button again, wait 30 minutes and try again. (Note: you will lose any faxes that are in memory. See the User Guide page 11-5 to save this information.) You can find the manual on the Brother support page for the MFC-7420: https://www.brother-usa.com/support/ModelInfo.aspx?R3ModelID=MFC7420 . Click on the Manuals & Documents tab. Then click on the Manuals on our Online Solution Center for the English version of the manual. The direct link to the User Guide is currently: http://download.brother.com/welcome/doc000387/ALLFB_UsaEngUsr_B.pdf .

You can also try unplugging the all-in-one for several minutes to reset the error codes. If the error persists, contact Brother if the MFC-7420 is still under warranty (1 year). If it isn't under warranty, consider replacing the unit. The repair costs may be unreasonable.

I hope this helps.

Hp laserjet 3055 has error message on copying "50 fuser error, turn off then on". Restarting brings on the same message when copying.

The all-in-one has experienced an internal hardware error.

1. Turn off the power by using the power switch, and then wait at least 30 seconds.
2. If a surge protector is being used, remove it. Plug the all-in-one directly into the wall socket.
3. Check the cabling connections to the heating element.
4. Turn on the power and wait for the all-inone to initialize.
5. If, the error persists, replace the fuser.
NOTE The device power mustremain off for at least 20 minutes forthe fuser to cool down and correctly reset.
Turn off the power switch, wait at least 20 minutes, and then use the power switch to turn on the all-in-one and wait for it to initialize.

Fax automaticaly daling #365 etc like tha number how can reset my MFC 7450 printer

Found this here...

(For MFC-7420)
When you turn off the MFC's power switch its memory will be cleared. To check
whether the MFC has faxes in its memory see Checking if the MFC has faxes in
its memory on page 11-5. If there are faxes you need to save them before following
the suggestions below (See Transferring faxes to your PC on page 11-5 or
Forwarding faxes to another fax machine on page 11-5).
Turn off the MFC's power switch and then turn it on again. If the error message
continues, leave the MFC for several minutes and try it again.
Check the settings in your application software to make sure it is set up to work
with your MFC.

(For MFC-7820N)
Turn off the MFC's power switch and then turn it on again. If the error message
continues leave the MFC for several minutes and then try it again. (The MFC can
be turned off for up to 4 days without losing faxes stored in the memory.)

Looking through this manual, this is the only solution that I could find. There are options on the 7820N model in the menus that will allow you to reset the printer itself, and i quick search through the above link for "printer reset" should bring you to the menu selections for that.

Brother MFC 7820N Toner life end with new toner

I found the following post on another site. It appears to work. If you want to reset your Brother MFC 7820N machine so you no longer have the error message: Toner End of Life, do the following:

1. Open the front cover of the 7820N, that is, the cover that allows you to pull out the toner and drum, but don't pull out the drum/toner.
2. Push the button: Options (located on the left of the control pad).
3. Type: *00 on the keypad.

The Brother MFC 7820N should be reset and the Toner End of Life message should disappear. WARNING: This may void your warranty and ultimately damage your machine if you are reusing or refilling your cartridges, but you should already know that. Hope this helps.
