Mistubishi Convergence/video display problem

My Mitsubishi has a convergence problem as well as video display issue. It powers up fine and shows inputs and channel display on screen. It also has sound. But not getting any diplay video from either inputs and anntena signal. Blue screen shows when you select other inputs such as DVD, DTV etc. Already replaced STK convergence ICS. I as other member was able to get tv signal and raster by removing GENE-CONVERG board. I even swapped GENE CONVERG board from no success. Also convergence is bowed at top and right. When attempting to select Advance Convergence to show ADvance screen Adjustment, It does not come on. When Attempting to adjust convergence it does not move on either ere or blue convergence. . Any assistance is greately appreciated. convergence is bowed at top and right .when attemting to reset convergence on screen menu it was gone on list menu.

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Tv powers on, has sound but no picture. All three lights are working & will show the input display but distorted. I would like to do the repair myself but am not sure if this is a convergence issue or...

Even if a convergence problem exists you should still have a picture, a bad one but a picture----call the menu up with the Mitsubishi remote and select convergence and then advanced---a grid of lines will appear in green---got dramatic red and blue showing and you have a convergence issue.

Do that first----presuming no hookup is ok (try a dvd player) the set does have the OPTION menu(can tell you how to get there) that is based on a 4 digit number code--may have that for this model or not).

It will not correct any convergence problems but will do a hard reset of the set back to factory original.

Let me know what you find---it sounds like 2 problems exist.

Intermittant white faded picture

Since it is intermittent it will likely be hard to find but here is some general information and ideas since I have worked on hundreds of the Mitsubishi sets.

If the issue was with just one of the 3 tubes the screen color (background) would change--so not that.

These sets are prone to Glycol issues (coolant leaking from the tubes) but since once that happens it does not take time or even come back that is not the issue.

This set has 3 hidden menus--
One: advanced Convergence adjustments that can be saved.
Two: Adjustment menu(keep out of that one!)
Three: Option Menu

That menu allows a hard reset of the entire set that sets all settings back to factory.

The convergence is not affected and it has been known to cure all sorts of odd issues like no sound, inputs not working, odd brightness and video issues, and others.

If you have labeled video inputs from 1 to DVD etc those will be removed, set will come on in air band on channel 3 so will if using cable have to switch back to it and auto program channels etc.

It essentially puts the set back to the condition setting wise that it was when new in the box.

The only reason I suspect this could help is if the set has developed some kind of processor glitch it will reset that also.

No harm can be done to try it---it requires the Mitsubishi remote and a four digit number code.

If interested I will give you a link to the full manual (free to download) and the page number with instructions for the OPTION menu entry and reset.

Certain cameras are showing the same video.

First you need to isolate the problem. Step one - make sure the video from the cameras is correct - use a monitor and check each input separate. If the video is correct, use one camera and start from input one on the DVR and check all inputs - in other words plug your camera in input 1, check for video to make sure is correct and shows up in the right place, than go to input 2. This way you check your DVR cards. If the video shows up, but in the wrong place - check the settings on the DVR - you might be able to change the physical input in the viewer.Or you might have a bad DVR.......do a search for DVR Doctors in Google - in case you need repair.

Change the 1000uf @16v capacitors on the FMT board that should solve your problem. You will most likely found that they have swelled. Let me know if you need further info.

I found this online somewhere and it cleared my problem.

(my problem was a blue screen that said my input was locked enter in your code using the 10 key pad. Both inputs were locked, I used the steps below and it cleared it. We are now watching a dvd for the first time in months!) Thank you Bob Waterman whoever you are!)

Or . Depending on which remote is being used
Press the TV mode button at the top.
