Question about HP Pavilion a1140n (PX774AA) PC Desktop
Changed battery and all fans came on, run smoothly for about 30 seconds then went down again.
This would normally indicate there is a short on the power somewhere. I would usually start by disconnecting power to all drives, if it still does not stay on, check the motherboard, make sure the RAM, video and CPU and all seated properly. Pull out the video and RAM, see if that makes any difference, also try removing the CPU and putting it back in, do the same for the power connectors on the motherboard. If none of those work then either the motherboard, CPU, or power supply is bad. To verify which one you would have to replace the components one at a time until it works. This is usually easier and better for a computer repair shop to do since most people do not have the spare computer parts to replace.
