The better way is to get a service manual to be sure of follow the correct step to diss/asembly and not damage your laptop. You can get one from here, but you have to register to get access to the manual (about 5 eu).

Samsung UN55EH6000 has audio, but no backlight LED as seen with flashlight test.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Replacing a Vizio Backlight Inverter

I have a television that did this. The picture went out but it continued to have sound. It was the projector bulb. I ordered from a dealer on ebay, very resonably priced. It came with instructions on how to install it and was a very easy fix.

Seems like your inverters boards have gone up they will need replacing. You can find your inverters here: CLICK just type in your model#. To install the inverters requires opening the back cover really not that difficult. I can walk you through it at the link below if you like..... hope this helps....

Hi

Thank you for your query

From what you are describing it indeed does sound like a inverter fault

However please try the following before hand

press the fn+ up arrow key to increase the brightneess

If this fails then the inverter will need to be replaced, this is quite common and i have replaced a few myself, it is much cheaper then replacing the LCD screen

Please book the laptop into a reputable PC shop for repair

If this has been useful please leave postive feedback/vote/testimonial - Thank You Again

Back light on my acer laptop is not working been told its the inverter I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5610-4491. The backlight lamp sometimes goes out for loooong periods of time and...

I assume you can see a faint image on the panel but it's just not lit at all.

you cannot replace the lamp, as it is part of the lcd itself. If the laptop is in warranty, contact acer. if not, try this:

remove the lcd bezel (front plastic). peel off the sticky dots and undo the screws to remove the bezel. The inverter board will be at the bottom of the lcd panel - basically right behind the acer logo on the bezel. disconnect and reconnect the connectors on each side of the inverter board - it might just be a bad/loose connection. If this doesn't fix it, it's probably worth gambling on a new inverter board. Call acer, it's a very inexpensive part ($20 probably)

Hope this helps!

No Backlight when powered up Acer 5610.

Mine does this too. It is the inverter. Of course it goes wrong as soon as your warranty expires. It can result from Best Buy sending you the incorrect battery and them insisting to put it in even though the voltage doesn't match...

You need to replace the inverter. This page should help:

Replacing Inverter Board

I did some poking around and only found a few places that sold inverter boards for this monitor. Ebay has one that sells for about $80: http://cgi.ebay.com/Backlight-Inverter-for-Gateway-FPD1930-LCD-Monitor_W0QQitemZ160070918225QQcategoryZ174QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWINQ3aPOST0Q3aRECOQ3aBINQQcmdZViewItem I wasn't able to find any specific instructions posted, however, taking a typical LCD panel apart and replacing the board shouldn't be too difficult. The only hard part is not getting shocked, which is why this is not a job for the typical user. Anyway to disassemble the typical LCD you remove the pedestal from the back of the LCD then remove the screws around the back of the LCD, remove the back and look for the inverter board. Typically it is covered with a metal shield; again the hard part is knowing how to correctly handle the parts. Considering you can buy a new 17" LCD for $120 to $150 (and has a 1 year warranty) you might want to consider investing in a new monitor instead. If you have any other questions let us know, otherwise please don?t forget to rate this posting.
