Hi sorry for the delay in responding to your kind help...perhaps I have another problem...when I squeeze the trigger I get a brief moment kick over and then all went dead. I remove and replace the brushes a few time, but nothing happened. Maybe something not making contact.

    Thanks guys

No as long as they move freely in the brush tube they should be fine. You have another problem, let me know what the old brushes looked like and I will try and help

SOURCE: I need to know how to change the blade on a Black

Go to Dewaltservicenet.com and in the middle of the page towards the bottom type in the model number 1710 and it will go to another page requesting either a breakdown or instruction manual, you have to use the manual for a type 4. They do not offer the type 2 as an online version. Hope this helps

Will worn out bushings cause a miter saw to not work

Worn out brushes can cause a saw not to work - they are usually easy enough to remove and check. Make sure they slide easily in the brush tube and that they travel all the way down to contact the armature.

I replaced switch and still doesn't work

Check your cord & insure you have continuity to & through the switch first.
Second, check the brushes - make sure they are not worn down & that they slide easily down the brush tube to contact the armature. I have had a few of these with bad field windings - the winding breaks off right at the field connector (you will need a meter to test this)

Stop spinning

Check brushes making contact with armature, ensure switch operates correctly & carry out continuity check of field coils.

I suspect that the brushes have fallen out between the end bearing and the armature bars.. Try removing the brushes and see what happens.

LS1030 miter saw. blade brake not working all the time.

Could be dirty or worn brushes not making contact properly, if not it is the switch which needs to be replaced.

I have a Dewalt dw 705 miter saw.when you pull the trigger the saw starts for a second and then shuts off. I have replaced the brushes and it worked for a few minutes and quits. the brushes do not seem to...

the armature needs to be cleaned or it is possibly bad (open bars) They make a special cleaning stick called a commutator stone that you might be able to purchase at a local repair shop. If you are not comfortable trying this I would recommend taking the saw with you, To clean properly you have to remove a cover and have the saw running, I would also check for proper movement in the brush tube allowing the brush to freely contact the armature. Let me know if you need more assistance and I will try and help.
