Question about Cb900 Motorcycle Security Alarm System Kit Diy

Open Question

1980 Honda CB900 custom won't start.

I've replaced the gas and it seems to want to fire with ether but won't start. I may have the plug wires in the wrong firing order but I'm not sure. Any suggestions? Thank you.

The # 1 cyl is on the left side as you are sitting on the bike. Firing order does not really apply to these motors as the coils fire twice per cyl. The left coil will fire 1 & 4 the right coil will fire 2 & 3. I usually hook them up as follows: Left outer to #1, Left inner to #4, Right inner to #2, and Right outer to #3
Here is a good site on XJ's
I hope this helps

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The connection to the ignition coils would be as rdgrnr posted; seated on the bike, left ignition coil wired to extreme left and right cylinders while right ignition coil goes to the 2 cylinders at the center. Firing order on would be 1 3 4 2 but that would be essential to the valve openings and not on the spark. The design of these bikes has a wasted spark (again as rdgrnr has likewise noted).

I had the 750 version and it is not different.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Truck is not firing on 3 cylinders yet it runs.. Runs really rough, back fires, under powered.. Plugs are Wet, Firing order is correct. New Spark plug cables. Don't know that is wrong! Please Help

Check for spark at the plug ( may have coil problem).
If spark is good then do a compression check. Pressure shouldn't be less than 75% of known good cylinders.

1993 Mazda MX-3 won't start

Check for spark at the sparkplug, to see if everything in the dist. is working right. And check the injector harness for something being pulled loose when the wires were jerked out.

I cant get the spark plug wires back on the way they came off and it won't start

Your factory motor is the 3800 V-6 for your model. You can get the firing order from your local parts store...(Auto Zone will print this for you for free) then you just need to identify the #1 cylinder spark plug and follow the firing order...if you have a friend with the GM 3800 V-6 (popular GM motor) you can also compare the firing order (plug wires) Hope this helps.
