Paper not pulling from tray 2 when tray 1 empties - Lexmark T654

For the majority of the Lexmark printers, all that needs to be done is to set the paper size and type the same for each drawer. Example - drawer 1 & 2 sizes are set to letter, drawer 1 & 2 paper types are set to plain. Set up this way, when drawer 1 empties, the printer will automatically switch to drawer 2 to supply the paper.

I cannot find the ADMIN PIN for a new LEXMARK T654. Is there anyway to reset it?

The only way to gain access when the admin pin has been lost is to open the panel on the left side of the printer. With the printer off, rRemove the metal cover over the board. Look for a small yellow jumper. There should be a series of three pins with the jumper connecting the center and right pin. Move it to the left so it covers the left and center pin. Wait about a minute and then turn on the printer. You should be able to regain access to the menus. You may always want to do a restore to factory by holding in select (checkmark) and right arrow then turning on the printer and releasing the buttons after about ten seconds to gain access to the service menu. From in there you can reset the printer back to factory. You can also reset just the network to clear a forgotten web password for example. These instructions also work on the Dell equivalent which is a 5530dn I believe.

Does not print to edge of paper

I had to stop and look up "truncated"..lol. Does it say "short paper" after it prints? If so it sounds like the paper size setting in the printer paper menu has been changed to A4 or something other than the size your trying to print on. If you go into the printer menu...cycle thru till you get to paper size. You can check the setting to be sure its set correctly to the size of the paper your trying to print on. If its off...and you can't change it, check the paper guide to make sure it has'nt slipped out of the correct slot. Last..if none of the above works...go back to that paper menu...go to that specific tray type setting...take the drawer and open and close it several times. Look to see if the setting in the display changes when you do that. If it does...then the tray card has gone bad. Its a little pc board inside the printer with 4 switches that tells the printer what size paper is in the tray. Its a pretty common problem with the Optra T series that have any kind of heavy use on them. If you had said truncated on the left only..it could be that the transfer roller(foam roller that sits under cartridge) has slipped to one side. But you said it happens at the top of the page too...so that would rule out the transfer roller. Unless someone got into the registration menu and messed with those settings...(which you'd have to know how to get to that menu)...then it has to be with the paper type menu settings...the tray itself...or that tray card. Hope this helps!
