Wireless router problem?!?

I'm having problems with the wireless part of my computer or the router. The internet connection is either really slow or will no respond. I can look at the bottom of the screen on the right hand side at the bottom and the wireless connection will say local....sometimes will say local and internet. I can connect with a wired connection and seems to work fine...it just the wireless connection. This all started a few days ago. I have purchased a new wireless router and I'm having the same problem.

Well I'm not so sure that it's just my computer that is having the problem. My GF has her laptop however it can still connect to the wireless router it is slow and sluggish at times. All this started last week with both of ours...change the router from a Linksys N to a Netgear N....and I'm having the same issues with both of them on really 2 different computers. That's why I thought it could be the router. Or maybe something with the built in "WiFi" on the pc. It all works like a dream when an ethernet chord is plugged in....but that's defeats the purpose of a laptop with "WiFi" to me.....and it's been working for 2 years without a problem until last week...all very strange....and really strange on 2 pc.

I believe I have found the problem. My modem and router had the same IP address. I changed the IP address on the router and seems to work fine now. We'll see if it holds connection in the upcoming days.

You should add a external wireless adapter. It will have a disk for with a new set of drivers. This will give your computer a new set of eyes.Look for your Network and try to connect. Good luck.

the problem with wireless routers is that they only will put out little more than 1mbps it may say 54mbps, but it'll usually only download at about 1 mbps, ive found it frustrating myself, but thats all the firmware in those will allow, ive tried to upgrade mine, but still the same, there isnt a fix that i'm aware of, wireless "N" maybe different but i doubt it, sending that much information wirelessly creates alot of heat,

First of all you don't need some kind of software to control your router, all you have to do is to connect with your browser (e.g. Internet explorer) to a specific i.p.adress. On the other way you can either change the wireless security password or passphrase or deny the wireless access at all the others computers except the 2 you mentioned. The first solution is easier but you must change the security password at your 2 computers according to the new one that you changed at the router. As you're going to change the security settings for your wireless internet, I suggest you try changing the seettings with a computer physically connected to the router, so in case of an error you will not keep out yourself.

In case of a problem, don't hesitate to post.

Thanks and regards

Ask you Internet Service Provider regarding this problem. Definitely, it is not a problem from your end like your software or router. It in a slow internet connection from your ISP.

My Computer is going toooooooo slow !!!!!!!!!!!!

theres a million things that can interfer with wireless...tin...cell phones, cordless phones and the like..but 11mbps is still really fast and chances are, your internet connection isnt even half that so your speed on the net shouldnt be effected...1mbps is usualy enough to load any website in seconds.
if your PC is slow, not jsut on the internet but in general (starting up, running apps) then its an issue with the pc and not the wireless.
but as a heads up, not trying to be mean, but netgear and belkin are cheap equipment.

My Belkin F5D8053 is working in low strength

If you're encountering a very internet connection on your router, this is can be a problem with either the internet connection from your modem or the firmware of the router should be updated, first thing that you can try is to update the firmware of the firmware of the router, you can download the latest firmware of it from Belkin web site then after that observe the connection if you still have a slow internet using the router , Try to check now the internet from your modem by connecting a computer directly to your modem and if you still have the same problem internet connection from your ISP is the problem so you can contact them about that..........

Slow connection

Your slow connection could be affected by poor location wireless router (therefore poor signal strength), electrical interference, or even someone else with a wireless router transmitting on the same channel as your wireless router.
Try relocating your router away from solid walls, and/or move your computer or router to another location.
If your connection speed varies, could be electrical interference with appliance/s in your house, turn off all appliances, test your internet speed connecting then turn on one appliance at a time to determine which appliance is at fault (could have a faulty capacitor in the appliance)

Desktop has very poor/slow connection through wireless router

This sounds like a spyware/virus problem. Try running the computer in safe mode(With networking) and see if it's any faster. You should also run your Anti-spyware,AV apps to check for problems.
