Microwave Toaster Combe

I have a Kenmore Microwave/Toaster Combo. Model 721.66299. This morning, the display just came on for no reason. It cycles through Def 1, Def 2, and Def 3 continuosly. During this time, nothing worked. I unplugged and plugged the power cord. The Def lights still came on.
I've had this unit about 2 years. Help!

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Kenmore microwave model 665.60652000 no power

If your model 665.60652000 (or any other) microwave is dead (no display, no light when you open the door, no beeps when you press pads on the keypad) then I would recommend first checking the outlet. A toaster or hair dryer will give you a good live load test.

With a multimeter, ohmmeter, or continuity checker, check the fuse, then the thermal cutouts (aka TCOs or thermostats), and then if those check good, I would suspect the control board, which I can usually repair very affordably.

At my site, I have a video that shows you how to remove the grille and controller assembly in about 5 minutes.

Then find the technical sheet hidden behind the grille or controller. It's very helpful for locating and testing components.

For part ordering information, see http://www.microwavecontrol.com/parts.htm.

Please include FULL model number*, FCC ID number*, + detailed symptom information.
* on the tag in cooking cavity or around door frame or control frame or on back

I have a kenmore microwave toaster. Microwave no heat. table rotates OK and toaster works OK. What is most likely problem, HV diode, capacitor or magnetron?

Could be any of those 3 parts since they work together to make the microwave part work. Most common problem if under 5 years old would be the diode, then capacitor, then mag, but I have replaced mags on new microwave in some cases. Like I said they work together. Capacitors will sometimes swell up at the top or bottom but again not always.. This isn't much help but you need a multimeter and must know some test procedures on this one.

Is hertz the same as amps?

No, hertz (Hz) is the name for "cycles per second". Normal AC power (in the USA) is 60 hertz or 60 cycles per second. 1 kiloherz (KHz) = 1000 cycles per second. 1 megahertz (MHz) = 1,000,000 cycles per second. Amps is the measurement of current flowing through a device or circuit. a 100 watt light bulb pulls about 0.9 amps. A toaster or microwave oven pulls about 15 amps.

Kenmore pizza microwave beeps constanly

This is not a solution, it is a clarification request, but it looks like FixYa took away that helpful option, too.

I would suggest you post a whole new help request and be sure to tell us:

1. The FULL model number from the tag in or on the microwave. A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

2. Let us know when it beeps. Is it only after cooking? While it's setting idle?

3. Next, let us know if the display has anything in it besides the normal clock time.

A good first step might be a hard reset, accomplished by unplugging the oven for a minute or two, plugging it back in, then resetting the clock.

Disabling the beep on a Kenmore microwave

I have Kenmore microwave model 721.61820100.
It has an "Option" button. Press it. The display say "NUMBER"
Then press "1". The display should say "SOUND" and then "OFF".
Press "Start" and that beast turns silent, well not really, but the beeps are goooone.

If for some reason you don't like it this way repeat the sequence and the sound this time will turn "ON".
