Question about InFocus IN78 DLP Projector
I replaced the lamp and in78 worked fire for about two days. then it wouldn't power up. i removed the lamp, and the square, glass lens on the front was cracked. so i replaced it with the lens from the old housing and reinstalled the lamp. now, when i plug it in, it starts to power up for about three or four seconds, and then shuts down again. unplugged the power cable, plugged it back in and got the same results. any clues?

Most likely, if it is a thermal problem, your main cooling fan has quit or is stopping after a short period. The problem is, I've seen several of these do this, and in every case, it is not the fan that has failed, but the Controller Board. And that is a very expensive part.

This could be one of two problems I have seen with another model Infocus projector (they are very good projectors though)
The first is the video input. Make sure it is attached correctly at both ends of the cable.
The second, remove the dust covers and blow them out. The problem can arrise if the temperature sensor detects the air inside the unit is getting too hot. If you can see the sensor when the dust covers are off (it will look like a little lump of goo on the end of a wire) then just give it a wipe as well. If dust settles on those it can cause incorrect temps to be reported.
Hope that solves your poblem =)

that little glass square broke off of the colorwheel, and it needs to be replaced. that yellow/gray line is from the light tunnel collapsing. both parts can be purchased and replaced by you. if you don't feel comfortable doing it, you can send it in to an authorized service center. try av solutions. they're pretty good. you can purchase infocus parts from them, too.
