Yes, there is a belt. usually, you need to first take off the panel on the bottom of the front, then the main front panel (the one that has the door in it) then the panel that supports the drum, then gently slide out the drum. you might have to look on the internet for a belt routing diagram for your specific model

Dryer quit spinning.

If the blower is working, then it's most likely the belt, a belt pulley or a tensioner spring.
Open the dryer, it will power off, and then spin the drum by hand. If it moves with little resistance, it's your belt.

Maytag dryer wont spin It makes heat, but the dryer wont spin

Sounds like the drum belt is broken or off the pulley of the motor

Power on but it won't spin.

You have a broken drive belt. To access the belt you have to remove the back metal cover.
The no heat problem could be a heating element or safety thermostat. These are also located under the back metal cover.

Replaced belt & pulley, now drum won't spin properly

Belt mounted upside down. Slick side goes to tub on this odd ball machine.

Knocking sounds

Ususally knocking is a sign that the rubber belt which spins the dryer tub is old and has hardened. If the knocking sound gets quieter after you have run the dryer for 30 minutes or so, then the belt is the problem. As the dryer turns, it heats up the rubber belt and makes the belt more pliable. This quiets the knock. I have seen dryers work fine for years, knocking the whole time. Have the belt replaced if the sound bothers you.
