Weak burner Hi, we have two weak coil type burners (the 2 larger) on a whirpool model# RF377PX62 super capacity or GZ would it be the burner or the infinite control knob? Thanks, Brian

there's a wiring harness with 4 or sometimes 5 switches depending on the model you have that slides onto the valve so when you turn the knob that burner will light, the switch most likely shorted out.if this is a regular stove with an oven and burners on top look down at the bottom, under the oven door you'll see a draw, open the draw and look on the frame not on the draw on the frame and you'll find a tag with the model and serial number on it,send the model number and i can look up your model.
Remove the bottom tray in oven compartment...... usually 2 screws at the rear... Turn it on to bake and see if ignitor glows if not test ignitor for 120v if you have 120v replace the ignitor. If it glows and still does not light burner after a few seconds the ignitor is weak replace it. (The gas safety valve has to receive a certain amount of power that must flow through the ignitor for the burner to ignite a weak ignitor will not allow enough power to flow through it). If you are not getting 120v trace the circuit.
Check the heating element, burner operation, ignitor, thermal fuse, and the wiring (power cord).
Visually inspect your heating element for any broken or burned areas. The heating element is a coil made from a nickel-chrome alloy, called nichrome.
When the burner is operating properly, the flame should be clean and blue.
If the ignitor is cycling without the burner lighting, you probably have defective electrical coils in the gas valve. These coils look like black cylinders with wires coming out the top of them, and are located near the burner valve assembly. When they get power, they open up and allow the gas to get through to the burner. If this is a new installation, make sure the gas valve is turned on.
If the ignitor doesn’t glow, look for a white or yellowish discoloration, or for a break in the ignitor. If this is something visible, just replace the ignitor.
there are 3 screws under the front of the top with the oven door open actually there are 6 screws but only 3 you need to remove to raise the glass top up!! to service the burners
The two front burners are used most often. On the side of the burners are tiny holes that become plugged and keep the burner from lighting. If all the burners are the same size try swapping the heads around. If they are not all the same size be sure they are in the correct position and fully seated on the top. Sometimes the heads have to be replaced when cleaning no longer works.
This happens when purchasing pans/bowls from home depot ect..., there are so many different shapes and models you never get the right ones. Order new bowls online with your model number located behind oven door to get the correct size and the elements should be fine.
