SOURCE: Panasonic HDTV 1080i Lamp out

If the lamp is actually out - replace it - if the lamp is still working just reset the lamp hours - at 10,000 hours it automatically says that but it is just the lamp time needing a reset.

SOURCE: convergence panasonic HDTV 1080i bbe hi definition

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.pnghttp://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

What is the picture quality setting for a panasonic 1080i HDTV

Hi,
Adjust the video output settings on the devices connected to your Panasonic HDTV. To view 1080p programming, enter into the service menu on your external device and change "Video Output" to the appropriate resolution. By default, the Panasonic TV is always displaying content in the resolution provided for it by the external device. If your cable box is set to output in "1080i," for example, your TV will display content in 1080i.

Let me know if this fixes the issue.

We have a Panasonic HDTV VIVA 1080i that was working fine when we went to bed and the next morning when we turned it on, it came on then shut off with the red light blinking 3 times, pause, blinking 3...

NO, three blinks on most of the sets means short protection.

If model is similar to one listed here it means short in convergence circuit. What happens is one of the two convergence output chips goes bad and takes out a resistor or two around it; set senses no voltage to chips and shuts down with 3 blink error code.

This can be a do it your self repair if you are handy and soldering is involved, typical parts cost at a site I use is well under 25 dollars.

TV off...cant get out of standby mode

Sounds like the connections on the CRT Socket or CRT circuit board. Remove back and check connections.
You could also have buildup on the cathodes of the electron gun (internally) to redimie you must have set in operation and viewing video. Tap the neck of the tube gently while watching for the colors to change until they Stabileize, this is best seen whith the color turned off.
Good Luck

Panasonic hdtv projection colors will not line up

If only minor convergence issues, the setup menu has user controls for 9-point convergence. If it's major misalignment in just one color, you may have a blown convergence amplifier chip. Big bucks repair, unfortunately. Chipsare about 30-40 dollars apiece but labor will kill you if they'll even fix it on-site. Most try to order $700+ board which is no longer available. Teh they send yours out for -10 weeks at similar prices.
