Question about Cell Phones

Open Question

2nd Phone dead after installing photo dialer.

System had a standard line phone with a portable phone base station connected to it and a remote phone which worked fine. A Golden Solutions Photo Dialer (which does not have its own power supply) was installed between the line phone and the base station. The base station and remote no longer have a dial tone and do not function. The dialer was removed and the remote system is still dead though they work fine on another line and other remote phones also don't work off the line phone. The line phone works and I tried different cables.

This phone is made to work on a Panasonic phone system. Are you connecting it to a Panasonic phone system or just a normal phone line?

If you do not have a Panasonic phone system I doubt this phone will do anything (just as you describe) If you do have a Panasonic system do you have other phones that start with KX-T7??? on the system and have you tried this phone in one of the ports another phone is currently working on?

You need a single mail RJ11 cord that splits into two male RJ11 lines. The line input on the phone will handle both lines. Not sure what the aux port is used for. I am looking for my manual tomorrow.

If your system was working fine, and it all of a sudden started doing this, it sounds like your base has taken a surge of some kind. Your base needs replacing. You can try re-registering the handsets, but from my experience the problem is fatal. Now if this is a new installation and the handsets never work yet on the base, you just need to register them. You can download the manuals or get tech tips at Siemens website, gigaset FAQ pages.

How to Operate a Home Security System Without a Contract

Many homes have alarm security system installed, even though the current tenants may not have been the ones who paid for it. Some did pay for it but just can't afford the high monthly cost of alarm monitoring. Many people don't realize that once the alarm security system is installed only the monthly monitoring fee stands in the way of free home security. The alarm system still works without monitoring, and it is easy to configure on your own.
  • Install the dial capable motion detectors in place of the entryway motion detectors. The mounting directions and hardware will be included in the motion detectors' packaging. Often the old motion detector's hardware will mount the new one.
  • Connect phone lines to the new motion detectors as instructed by the manufacturer. Usually the lines connect from the new motion detectors to a phone or third-party dialer.
  • Program the dialer or the dial-capable motion detectors to dial the phones of your choice. Your cell phone is usually the most important phone number to program into the dialer to alert you quickly if there is an intruder.
  • Arm the alarm as you normally would. If there is an intruder, the new motion detectors will sense the movement and will dial your phone to alert you.
  • Tips & Warnings

    • Consider replacing the motion detectors that cover the windows and alternate entry and exit points, especially if you have a large home or one with several different entry doors.
    • If the dialer-enabled motion detector is capable, program a second and third phone number into the dialer to maximize effectiveness. Dialing your cell and your neighbor's home phone, for example, would be more effective when you are away from the area.

My phones went dead and went into searching mode. Phone lines are working just not base

Your base station is dead, this is common with Uniden phones. You will need to purchase a new base station. You can use the new base station with existing phones as long as you buy a compatible model.

Phone has been charging but still won't turn on

Let me suggest that you unplug all stations including the base and disconnect base from phone line. Waite 5 minutes and then plug base station into phone line, and plug all units in again. Most have an automatic procedure of finding all the remotes if yours has manual method do that.

Cant make call out as it appears that there is a line open

2 more things to try:

Try plugging in the base station into a different phone jack somewhere in the house: if it works, the first jack is dead and will need to be replaced, otherwise try the folowing:

Try using your base station at a neighbors house, (somewhere where you know the phone line is working), if it works there then its an issue with your telephone line, however if the base station does not work there, then I would look into what is going on with the phone.

if you determine that it is your phone line, I would contact your telephone company and talk to them about sending a technician out to fix it.

Let me know how things turn out!

Thanks,
Mike

All three of my phones say no line

The base station isn't seeing a signal from the phone line. Make sure it has power. Make sure that the phone line is connected properlly at both ends. And at my house I'd be checking my phone bill ;-]

It is possible the base station has died on you. If you can try to plug it in to another phone line and see if it works. If it does then your cable or one of the ends is the problem, and if not then it is the base station.

You may have warrenty if so you can get it replaced. If not what you can do is buy just a new base station without the extra phones and then key the extra phone handsets from your current set to work with it. As long as you get the same base model and it says it is expanadable you should be up and running.

Panasonic Phones are on mute and will not work

The following is generic for most cordless phones:

Did you check to make sure that the phone is not in the intercom mode? If this phone has a base station speaker phone, make sure it is not on mute. Some of these phones have a fax connection. Make sure your phone line is not accidently pluged in to the fax section. Also if the phone has a fax monitoring feature check the the setup menu that the fax is not enabled. If the phone has an answering machine mode, make sure that this feature is turned off.

In the worse case:
There may be a defect in the X-Mit section of the phone. I would suspect the fault to be in the base.

My phone keeps saying, connecting, connecting, connecting, but no dial tone comes up, and says unavailable, what is the problem

I searched for ages before I found the solution to this. Just plug the 2nd handset into the base station as though you were charging it. You'll see the red light in front flicker for a few seconds. Wait five seconds after it goes solid red again and remove it. Press the "find phone" button on the front of the base station. If both phones beep, you're all set. If not, rinse and repeat.
