You should have a setting on the camera with the option of picture quality and size. Select fine quality rather than super fine. Then you should select the size, small, passport, medium, postcard, large and widescreen are the usual terms. But somewhere it should give the actual size in dimensions e.g 640x480. This is the size i would recomend for downloading. When you download the images from the memory card make sure that when you are asked Where you want to save them you also check which format they are being saved as!! Save them as a jpeg and not a bitmap image as this is the most common used by websites. If you need to resize an image you already have on the pc,click on it and then right click, you should then have an option to "open with" and you can choose from many different applications.I find the easiest and quickest is" Paint" It will then open in the paint programe, goto image at the top of the page and click resize. you can then choose what size you like. Bear in mind that resizing affects quality although you can adjust virtually anything with the paint software.

Can't post photos on Facebook from gallery how do I do that when uploading it says can't open file

Hi, are you trying to do this from a smart phone or from a pc/mac?
It could be that the file size is too large.
How many photos are you trying to upload. In my experience, when I have been trying to upload multiple photos, Facebook just stops and the option to post never comes up. Try to upload one or two at a time and see how that goes.

I can no longer upload my photos. What is going on?

JigZone Photo Upload accepts pictures of JPG and GIF formats only. All puzzle pictures are a fixed dimension, 400 pixels wide by 300 pixels high:All puzzle pictures are stored with a maximum file size of 20KB (20,480 bytes). Photos which have a file size greater than 20KB will be automatically compressed, which could result in a loss of picture quality. For fast uploading and maximum picture quality, we recommend that your edit your pictures to be 400 pixels wide by 300 pixels high and have a file size no greater than 20KB before uploading them.Note: GIF type images cannot be automatically re-sized and must be formatted to 400 x 300 and less than 20KB before being uploaded. To limit the bandwidth costs of this free service, at this time the file size of a photo upload is limited to 2M or 2,097,152 bytes. Large sized photos could take several minutes to upload. During this time the upload page will remain on the screen.

Have had problems uploading photos to walmart and private messages on face book since I hooked it up.

The pictures are too big, reduce the size by compressing them using JPEG software.

Change the file format when saving can reduce the file size by up to 90%.

I take a pic on my phone i attach it to my email on jpay and it says file to big. If i put the pic on facebook then i can get and put in email. How do i do this there has to be an easy answer

The website has a file size limit, which is exceeded by the photo image your phone creates. When you load it to facebook, the file size limit may be larger. Load a photo editing app to your phone, and then you can reduce the size of the image before uploading.

I click on upload and try to type in location of photo but the type does not show. I previously went to Documents, then My Pictures and clicked on the chosen photo. I have no problem sending photos via...

Make sure you are using the uploader provided with facebook, verify that your photo size is allowed and that may help. Many newer high resolution cameras take a very hi resolution picture, and as a result the photo has too large of a file size. Download Jasc painshop pro free, or other photo editing software and try to reduce the file size of your photo. You can also reduce the pixel count from your camera before you shoot. Also remember that, the larger your file size the slower the picture will load. This will make it hard for friends and family to view your picture due to long download times.

Problems uploading photos to Facebook

Since the uploader is java-based, it'd be worth re-installing Java to see if this helps. Available from java.sun.com, you need the 'JRE' package.

Size reduction

You can do this with most photo editing applications (Adobe Photoshop, Paint, etc.)... For Paint, just open the picture file (.jpg) in Paint, click the 'Image' menu and select 'Stretch and Skew'. You'll see a window which will allow you to reduce the image size by precentage (try 50% in each box). Then save your image and the resulting file should be a lot smaller.

The size of the images are too big

Use your favourite image editing software in Vista. Or use the software that came on CD with your camera (if it is not the one that runs on XP only). Anyway as alternative solution you can either shoot photos in lower resolutions (1Mpix for example) and then the files won't be so big. But you will have only the small photo and no large one. Or shoot as usual, then switch camera to "play" mode and when viewing images on camera, there is a menu option to resize the images - you can resize them to 1Mpix for example. In the meantime search web for some free image editing software for Vista.
