You should have a setting on the camera with the option of picture quality and size. Select fine quality rather than super fine. Then you should select the size, small, passport, medium, postcard, large and widescreen are the usual terms. But somewhere it should give the actual size in dimensions e.g 640x480. This is the size i would recomend for downloading. When you download the images from the memory card make sure that when you are asked Where you want to save them you also check which format they are being saved as!! Save them as a jpeg and not a bitmap image as this is the most common used by websites. If you need to resize an image you already have on the pc,click on it and then right click, you should then have an option to "open with" and you can choose from many different applications.I find the easiest and quickest is" Paint" It will then open in the paint programe, goto image at the top of the page and click resize. you can then choose what size you like. Bear in mind that resizing affects quality although you can adjust virtually anything with the paint software.

I have no problem getting the pictures off my camera onto my computer. But my problem is when I am trying to download my picture onto a website (kijiji) it doesn't want to do it. Help

you don't indicate what the website says when you try to upload photos to it, without that info I don't know how I can help you. most problems like this are usually cause by trying to upload either the wrong format photo or too large a file. try lowering the resolution you photos so that the file you send to the web site has photos that are no larger than 50 to 120 mbs in size, if that works, then you know what the problem was.

If you're trying to upload a photo that has already been taken, you'll need to "resize" it in a photo-editing program. I don't know what's installed on your computer so I can't give you any specific advice. If you want to take the picture over again, just change the picture quality setting in your camera menu to a small number of megapixels to get a smaller picture.

There are three options

Print the photo in smaller size you want

Reduce the size of the photo with the camera settings

or upload the photo to the computer and save it as a jpeg picture with any photo editing programme.

Photo resolution

Sony H1 takes photos at 72 dpi by default. But the picture quality will be good. if you want to convert it to 300dpi open the picture in adobe Photoshop and select image size and change resolution to 300 dpi. but the file size will be very high to up load. if you want to reduce the file size select the image size in adobe photoshop and reduce it according to your requirement. if my solution proves good please rate it. Regards.

Size reduction

You can do this with most photo editing applications (Adobe Photoshop, Paint, etc.)... For Paint, just open the picture file (.jpg) in Paint, click the 'Image' menu and select 'Stretch and Skew'. You'll see a window which will allow you to reduce the image size by precentage (try 50% in each box). Then save your image and the resulting file should be a lot smaller.

The size of the images are too big

Use your favourite image editing software in Vista. Or use the software that came on CD with your camera (if it is not the one that runs on XP only). Anyway as alternative solution you can either shoot photos in lower resolutions (1Mpix for example) and then the files won't be so big. But you will have only the small photo and no large one. Or shoot as usual, then switch camera to "play" mode and when viewing images on camera, there is a menu option to resize the images - you can resize them to 1Mpix for example. In the meantime search web for some free image editing software for Vista.
