Maybe, or probably. Well, there are a number of reasons that may causing a Mac computer running slow, but generally two factors: hardware part & system part. For hardware part: I guess it's OK if your Mac is not that old. For system part: there might be a lot of junk files, caches, registry errors... out there which largely slow down any Mac machines. about 80% slow Mac caused by this reason, if so, try cleaning the system. Running lots of applications can slow your Mac down, so can lots of pictures or large files. You can save them to an external hard drive, disc or thumb drive and that will help. Other things that slow Mac computers down include the extra language packs, junk files, widgets and other such things. You can get rid of them using a Mac cleaner or you can do it yourself too by following these tips: Fix a Slow Mac. I hope this helps. If none of this works you may need to add more ram, as other commenters have advised.

The most important factor for unix based systems is the amount of ram available. i can run my system at full cpu load and it will respond just fine as long as there is lots of ram available. the number of processes doesn't really matter.

SOURCE: Gaming issues

I would make sure you have the latest bios, and video drivers to start. Make sure you have all latest updates for windows. Make sure your hard drive is defragmented. Also make sure your computer is clean and that it is ventilating/cooling properly. If that fails I would just format and reinstall windows.
Hope that helps,
Lee

SOURCE: slow performance

System resources at 75% on idle only gives you 25% to work your notebook. Sony VAIO PCG-K25 Laptop 2.8 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM should be plenty to run most OS and programs. The OS, software and accessories attached to your laptop are utilizing 75% of your resources on startup. You may want to do some maintenance, check your processes on startup & carefully remove any not being used, check your networking usage, good antivirus & spyware cleaning, clean & defrag your hard drive, remove some of your files & programs, and upgrade your memory.

SOURCE: I am not really sure

First, I appreciate the details provided in your question. Thanks!
The specification of your laptop are fine and enough to run and support Vista. It is true that greater number of processes and CPU usage causes, but normally the machine can handle it well if it gets proper ventilation.
Laptop heating issue generally occurs due to fan failure, which may damage the system, if not checked properly. Another cause of overheating is the dust present inside the laptop, which clogs the fan and heatsink. I suggest that you should get you laptop checked by a professional for servicing (if required). I believe immediate action is required to prevent any damage to your machine and data.

Hope it Helps! Let me know if i could be of any further assistance.

What causes a circular arrow to appear on my video monitor while I'm editing movies?

Sounds like it could be busy! When editing movies it's essential to stop any other process from running on your computer. So for example if you have another program running it's best to shut it down. Insufficient memory and making the CPU work to it's full will risk crashing or slowing your Corel editor down.

Processing slowed down

1) Has the laptop been cleaned out inside, since it was new?
Physically cleaning the inside out?

I would have it professionally cleaned out. Or if you wish to do so, simply post in a Comment, and I'll give you a link to a free Service Manual, and some tips.

Overheating can cause the laptop to slow down.
If it has never been cleaned out on the inside, it is also a good time to replace the Thermal Paste on the Processor.
Need guidance on this post in a Comment.

2) If a Harddrive is filled to more than 50 percent capacity, the computer slows down. Really noticed, once you go beyond 70 percent capacity.

Clean the Harddrive out.
A) Get rid of unused programs you have installed, or downloaded.
[ Note* Leave Windows programs ALONE ]

B) Remove personal documents you can copy off, and have at your fingertips.
Photos, music, videos, personal documents you have created, documents you have downloaded, etc.

C) Defragment your harddrive.
Windows XP:
Click on Start, then Control Panel. Click on Performance and Maintenance. (Category view)
Click on -> Rearrange items on your hard disk drive to make programs run faster

Windows Vista and Windows 7?

Maybe, it's not the reason of being a mac user makes you experience that problem. Your program you used for your mac computer is not working well because it might be not compatible for your operating system. Before installing a program into your computer, make sure that it will pass it's requirements and before you click the installer of the program, use troubleshoot compatibility. That process will allow you to choose what operating system your program would run.:D

Pc is very slow..............

1) Scan for malware. A program that means you no good just might be the culprit. If your PC is mass-mailing spam or taking part in some other evil activity without your knowledge, that could slow it down. I assume you already have a good anti-virus program, but just to be safe, install, update, and scan your PC with either SUPERAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (or both).

2) Look for a hog process. A process is a program or an independent piece of a program, and any time you're running Windows, you're running a lot of them. A big, fat, slow one could be hogging all of the resources and slowing everything down. See Tame a Hog Process for more on controlling them.

3) Remove autoloaders. Most PCs have too many programs that load automatically with every boot. (In fact, most PCs leave the factory with too many such programs.) Each one of these slows your PC and may cause conflicts. See What Autoloading Programs Should I Keep? for further instructions.

4) Keep notes. If the above advice doesn't solve the problem, keep a pad of paper and a pen near your PC. When it slows, write down what applications are running and what you were doing when the problems start. After a while, you may figure out what program or practice is to blame. (Why a paper and pen? So you don't have to load an existing word processing document and start typing while your PC is moving like a tortoise dragging the ultimate gamer's desktop PC.)

5) Change your work habits. I know you don't want to read this, but perhaps your PC isn't powerful enough for what you're doing with it. To keep it moving nicely, multitask less. When possible, close one big application before opening another. Replace your slower applications with faster competitors (Replacing Firefox with Chrome did wonders for my laptop.) And don't upgrade major applications unless you absolutely have to; the new versions are always slower.

6) Upgrade your hardware. If your PC is just too slow for the work you need--or want--to do on it, maybe you need an investment. And no, you don't have to buy a new computer. Adding RAM will give you the most speed for the fewest dollars. See RAM Upgrade Advice for more on this upgrade.

To correct this, you will need to either upgrade the RAM memory in your computer system or close everything off but the Windowes Movie Maker program. I made a few videos during the christmas season and it did the same thing to me. After i closed off all the applications and programs running in the back round, the audio and video stayed in sync. Press the "Ctrl, alt, and delete" buttons on your keyboard all at one time to bring up the "Windows Task Manager" Now, click on "processes' and end the ones you are not using, these programs running in the backround are slowing your computer down causing that lag in your movie maker.

Print too slowly

You possibly might have too many other documents open at the same time or you are printing graphics which will slow down the printer. Also the print driver might be outdated so visit this site to see if there is an updated driver.

http://tinyurl.com/3667m8

If you are using a MAC then the issue might be not the right driver so if you are on a MAC see if it is also the latest driver.

Slow

Hey
There can be many things that can cause your computer to slow down.
First of all Viruses .. some viruses once in the computer are difficult to be recognized by normal anit-viruses they generally make your computer go slow, such a problem can be solved either by getting a better anti virus or by formatting your system
There can be another reason... have you check how many processes are running on your comp?
ctrl + alt + delete go to processes... now a normal XP os needs only 17-20 applications to run properly ... so anything in excess to it is being run on your computer to provide some sort of service to you(you must not start stopping those extra processes w/o knows what they are doing).Try closing some of the applications this should make your computer work faster
There can be another reason... the drive space in your OS drive Say Drive C is very less ... should be above 500 Mb for smooth functioning.. in such a case delete unwanted files..
for further assistance feel free to mail me at
kushalagarwal22@gmail.com
