It should be under the seat . u can try to test in by just getting up and down of mower while at a stand still and blades are running. when u get up blades should stop .

If it is a temp. fix unplug the harness and use a jumper wire across the plugs. This will tell you if the switch is bad preventing the tractor from functioning properly.

SOURCE: Poulan Riding Mower won't crank, battery OK.

Forget the safety switches for now.The first thing I would check would be the fuse. It will be located on the battery side of the solenoid. Follow your positive battery cable to the solenoid. There will be a small red wire coming off of that post with an inline fuse. If the fuse is good, check your solenoid. There are two wires plugged into spade terminals at the bottom of the solenoid. Unplug the one that is insulated, the other one is a ground. Hook a test light from that wire to ground. When you turn the key to start (with the brake pedal held down), it should light. If it lights, your solenoid is bad. If not, then you can start looking at switches. Probably will be one of the two. Hope this helps. Dwain

SOURCE: Husqvarna Mdl YTH2448 Riding Mower - Electric PTO Not Working

It sounds like your charge system is not working. If you jump the battery the engine will run with a weak battery but the pto clutch needs a strong battery to stay engaged.Try this to test it,after you jump it leav the jumper cables hooked up and try to engage the blade clutch,if it runs it is either a battery that wont take a charge or a charge system not working. If you put a volt meter on the battery while the engine is running and the voltage is 13 volts the charge system is working and the battery is bad.

SOURCE: The charging system on the mower will not charge the battery up

The first thing to check on this machine is your voltage regulator try bypassing the voltage regulator to see if the alternator starts charging, it would be better to check your charging system with a voltmeter so that you know what the exact input and output in the electrical system.

Lt 1045.....clutch to mower began to cut out occasionally, now it will not engage at all. Also, engine now stops when I take my foot off the brake pedal. Are problems related?

Yes the problems are likely related. The saftey switch under the operators seat is most likely failing. To start the tractor either the brake must be set or the driver in sitting in the seat. To operate the PTO (power take off ) the driver must be in the seat!

Suggest test with multimeter seat saftey switch to confirm the problem.

Was running fine, engine just stopped - plenty of gas and oil, tilled several garden rows fine and stopped running?

If no spark no crank check saftey interlock switches. The driver present under the seat is a common failure.

Additional interlock saftey on the PTO

Hope this helps?

Lawn tractor

It is most likely the saftey lock out. The circuits are simple but can confuse you when troubleshooting. The most likely is the seat driver presence switch located under the seat. Second I would check the PTO enabled switch. If the machine does not have the parking brake on or a driver in seat it will not crank. If the PTO switch is enabled the machine will not start. Below is a typical circuit for these machines.

On some models there is a relay that will get dirty contacts.

Hope this helps?

Have a craftsman EZ3 917.272121 mower engine e stalls when blade switch is pulled

If you are sitting on the tractor seat and the engine stalls when engaging the PTO mover blades I would check the switch under the seat.

This seat has a saftey switch to assure that the operator is in a safe location before engaging the the blades. Also if the blades are engaged and the operator leaves the seat the blades will stop. If a young rider with insufficient weight the blades will not engage.

Engine cuts out wen blades turned on

You either have a faulty PTO switch or a faulty seat switch
The saftey shut down circut usually has four switches that have to be made to start motor and engage blades
both steer levers have one each
seat has one
lever conected for parking brake has one
scag might use plug in relays which could be bad too

Wheelhorse 314 engines dies when pto is engaged

I am assuming you have a manual PTO clutch since you did not mention a PTO switch. The starting circuit generally is a series of switches wired in line (series) with each other. You have bypassed the seat but there is usually a switch for neutral, PTO, oil level, and clutch. You will need to trace the wires from one to the other to find the problem. If the seat has a double switch (3 or 4 wires) it is wired through the PTO switch which may be a double switch to short out the ignition so that part of the circuit should stay open to operate. If the oil level is ok and the oil has been changed as recommended you may better consult a Wheelhorse service person. Bypassing the switches is for testing only! I DO NOT RECOMEND LEAVING ANY SAFETY SWITCH BYPASSED. Any defective or out of adjustment switch should be replaced or corrected.
