A message comes up when I try to open a file in Gimp, when I haven't had issues opening it previously.

This message comes up when I try to open a PSD file to Gimp: Error loading PSD file: Unsupported compression mode: 65283 I have been working on a project for weeks, and it's been a PSD file the entire time. For some reason, I can't open it anymore now. What did I do, and how can I fix this?

How do I email pics using gimp?

The GIMP is an image manipulation program, not a mailer.

After doing whatever you're doing to the image file, save it to disk. Then open up your usual email program and attach the file.

How can I save a file to send to other people who do not have memorex expressit/

Do one thing go to and download "The GNU Image Manipulation Program" it is called GIMP 2.8.2. After installation of this software , Choose Open and browse for your image (the one you want to convert). After you open it you just click "save as" and save it under the file extension you want.

Once you first open your picture, it might look slightly different when the program opens it, but don't worry. When you save it using another file extension, it will look the same way again when its opened.

Good Luck and hope it'll work for you and remember the sofware i mention is Free of Cost.

Need help with missing libgimpui-2.0-0.dll file

The problem is you didn't completely uninstall Gimp before you installed it again so the Gimp install file got confused when it found some residual files or registry keys from a previous install and thus it skipped installing some files (libgimpui-2.0-0.dll was one of them for sure) You need to completely uninstall Gimp before you can install it again properly. Get a copy of Revo uninstaller from the link below and use it to uninstall Gimp for you. You should be good to go after that.

Not detecting saved files

Puzzling. The "real" answer probably has to do with the location to which the file is saved, the command used to save the file, and the file type. That said, I would first try locating the file using the freeware application Everything (allowing it time to index the files on the C drive). It should reveal the location of the file which you should take not of. And it will tell you the file type. You should be able to drag and drop the located file into the opened Gimp application. That event should confirm that Gimp can read the saved files (and that such are not corrupted.) Gimp may simply be configured to not look in the directory where it is saving files but rather to another location.

Gimp by default saves pictures in a file format unlikely viewable by other picture displaying programs. This forces a user to export it to more standard file types via the use of Gimp plugins. And Gimp can import files as well. This is discussed in the link below:

How do I upload picture to gimp?

GIMP is a program saved on your computer, you don't need to upload an image, but to simply open an image using GIMP. There are two ways to accomplish this:

File Browser
While viewing your files, right-click on your image, and place the mouse over "Open With". This will bring up a new menu, from which you select "GIMP Image Editor". If GIMP is not an option, select "Other Application". This will bring up a list of applications for you to choose from. Scroll down until you see "GIMP Image Editor", select it, then click "Open".

The second method is by running GIMP first, then clicking "File", then "Open". From there, find your image, select it, and then click "Open".

I can be more specific or provide screenshots if necessary. Hope this helped!

Cant open my files all of it what should i do?

Stop filing anvils and glue-pots together with your other paper files. When you close the file the anvils hit the gluepots and break them so your folders get glued shut.

Clearly you need to get more descriptive error messages, and to check to see whether your drive letters haven't been rearranged because of changing USB cables around, network changes, a disk taking longer than usual to spin up, or causes like that. Then resolve the issue.

Since you've said nothing about your operating system, database, etc. or what's changed since you could open files normally (...) I leave it to you.

I just installed gimp 2.6.11, but when I try to open it, it opens only halfway than shuts down right away. I had an older version in here which worked perfectly. Help would be welcomed! Thanx

Try restarting your computer and then try to open the program again.
If that doesn't fix it, Uninstall GIMP and re-download the program and install again.
If the problem persists after that, check CNET downloads for previous versions that would be compatible with your computer.
