PPoE is used when you have DSL. This is where you put your username and password for the DSL ISP.

If you receive that error message from the status page of the Linksys router, it only mean one thing the router shouldn't be set to PPPoE , the internet connection type of the router should be set to Automatic configuration/DHCP then do a power cycle on your modem and router...
