SOURCE: return sticks
Try putting a few drops of light oil on the shaft that the carrier rides on and the pulleys that the cables are on (WD40 works well) also look for debris under the carrier.

SOURCE: Margin Release
Try holding down on the MR (margin release) key and turn on. Machine will print a few lines with all the letters. Turn off and then on and try. Also make sure someone has not switched the key tops for left marging and right margin, I have seen this "joke" played on people. Can you set either margins?

I'll try, return to the margin, touch and release the mar. rel key, backspace to the place you would like the L. margin, press the L. margin key.
