I believe it is for heat dissipation. On my circuit board, the white stuff is between two capacitors which are close together -- apparently, in an effort to protect the capacitors from the heat coming from the capacitors. The capacitors which are by themselves have not white putty/paste.

Just epoxy to keep them together. Nothing to with the operation of the set. I've seen several sets made like that, with no idea why they would. Nothing to worry about.

80 mfd capacitior burned after 24 hour the compressor model areNL 6 1Ft 105 G what possible problem

The capacitor is there to assist the compressor under start-up There is no switch that turns it on and off. compressor's uses a lot of power (AMPS) under start up so the capacitor (a device that that stores a charge) boosts the voltage to the compressor to assist it. in this case your compressor is 115v and your start capacitor boosts it to 125v. Sometimes if you have a bad compressor it can cause a capacitor to blow but rarely because all it does is store a charge and a bad compressor using allot of amps would drain the capacitor of its charge.

When switched on, the power light flashes on and off on the front of the TV but no picture. We have the back part of the panel off and there are no puffed capacitors. Everything looks good except some...

It is not normal to have goo coming from the cap. Usually a cap will pop and you'll have the top or bottom puff out. Sometimes a cap will explode and you'll have a little more of a mess. So if it looks like goo is coming out if it then that is probably the case. Also compare it to other components on other boards. Sometimes a paste is used to connect components. Do you see this same stuff on other caps or other components? The paste is usually grayish in color.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

If your oven is not self cleaning use this one:

Otherwise use this one:

Call Dow using this number Toll Free: 1-800-248-2481
and ask what retailer near you would carry this product:

Lowes, Menards, and Home Depot all have high temp silicone adhesives. You need one that has a temp range of 300 deg C / 572 deg F.

There are Black and Clear adhesives. I prefer the Black as it will not show grease signs ever.

Hp vs17e silver monitor goes to sleep as soon as it is turned on.. Not connected to computer.

I know this post is old, but for anyone coming from google ill answer it.

Most likely the CrapXon... I mean CapXon capacitors took a dump. Located at 822-824 on the main board. Replace those with some good authentic Rubicon, Nichicon or Panasonic 10V 1000uf caps and this thing should last till the CCFL tubes fail. If you are repairing this yourself, you might want to get a 10uf ceramic cap as well, since the white glue stuff that HP put on these things to keep them intact after a meltdown, might break your 10uf cap's insulation off at location 821.

You didn't indicate exactly what AO Smith motor model you have, but most likely it's Capacitor start/run if it doesn't have a switch. The important thing is to replace with the same MFD as the old so you have the same starting characteristics. Here is a great link on AO Smith motors:

The fan on my outside heat pump is running slow and the compressor attempts to start but quickly stops and trips the braker.i was told that could be the capacitor. could it be?

depending on the outside temp compressor may have a hard time starting in cooler weather. I would us a hard star capacitior connected to your existing capacitior and this should take care of the hard starting problem.

sounds like you had a condenser fan replaced ok you just have verify if the fan is a reversible one there is like a plug type connector on top of fan all you have to do is swap the position of the plug ex. if black / white to white/black that changes the rotation. check against the diagram it should be for the CCW position.
