SOURCE: The saw blade on my Porter cable 423mag saw is jammed tight.

Unless you can get a wrench on it I can't see anything else on the breakdown. You are aware that the knob is Left Hand thread I hope.

I have a porter cable 16' variable scroll saw. the tension knob on the back will not stay in place, hence making the blade loose, how can I fix this.

Try some blue LocTite thread fastener. It's an anaerobic-hardening resin. Remove the knob enough to get a drop onto the threads, then snug it up. Going forward, repeat as necessary. Just a drop.
Better than lock-washers. Scrollsaws basically just vibrate their little blades up & down.

How do u put on a saw blade for a cordless circular saw.???

First remove the battery, next make sure of the blade rotation and remove the hex bolt and OUTER flange lift the guard and put the blade on the spindle. Reinstall the outer flange and tighten the hex bolt, generally newer saws have a spindle lock to hold spindle to tighten the blade. If this is a Porter Cable like in the header you can go to dewaltservicenet.com and with your model and type number find an operators manual. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Where do I find a parts list or be able to get parts for porter cable 6" boss circular saw

Go to http://servicenet.deltaportercable.com/

On the left hand side, you'll see a search box where you can enter your model number.

On Delta ' Porter-Cable tools, the model number and type number are usually on the warning label or name plate.
  • These labels are typically found on the bottom or side of the tool.
  • For larger equipment, the label can be found on the top of the equipment.
  • Sometimes the type number is reflected at the end of the model number. The type number can be followed by a " - " or a "T" at the end of the model number. For example: "HFAC3030-1", is a Type 1. "36-450 T2", is a Type 2

My trusty PC 7 1/4",15 amp after many years simply stopped running .no electric/burniing smell. hoe do i diagnos burnt out motor versus cord/switch break?

Check the carbon brushes by removing the black cover on the end of the motor. The brushes should be long enough so the spring can hold them firmly against the armature. The end of the brushes should be slightly concave and smooth/shiney. If they are worn down too short or look broken and don't touch the armature replace them. If the brushes are OK, take the right half of the handle off, should be five or six screws. Look for any burn marks or melted wires along the cord and switch wires. Use an electrical multimeter set to AC in the 200V range. Plug the cord in and check for voltage where the cord goes into the switch. If no voltage, replace cord; voltage, move on. If the switch can be locked on do so, otherwise you'll have to have someone hold it on while you check for voltage on the out side of the switch. Again no voltage, replace the switch; voltage move on. If you have power going into and coming out of the switch and the brushes are OK you may have a problem with the armature or field. These have to be tested with a growler to check for shorts. Most electronic shops have one.

Remove 2 screws from under front grip and the swivel foot should slide forward and out (might need a bit of a twist to loosen) plastic grip should now slide forward and off.

Blade won't lock.

There is a ball lock in it and you have to twist the ball lock but if the ball lock is frozen generally WD40 will help unfreeze it and work it until the ball is free and should work just fine.

Clamp a pair of vise-grips onto the blade to act as a blade-lock to stop rotation of the blade.
