THANK YOU FOR THE INFO ON THE SHARK NAVIGATOR--almost bought it!!!

Phew, you all saved me from wasting my money, which is tighter than my belt! The Shark looked great, but I should have known that anything hocked on an infomercial is junk. THANK YOU AGAIN.

I have this model with no problems at all. As long as instructions followed with regard to emptying, filter clean and brush maintenance this delivers what is promised - superior performance.

Shark has no customer service dept. They do not make parts, and the machines are non repairable. If you just bought it, take it back and get your money back before it's too late. Quality vacs can be purchased for the same amount of money. Miele, Sebo, Riccar are all better and in the same price range.

Shark navigator making strange noise. Still have suction, doesn't make noise when beater bar not moving. What could be the problem?

If your Shark Navigator vacuum is only making a strange noise when the brush roll is turning then the two things to consider and examine would be the brush roll itself as well as the belt.

First off lets look at the brush roll itself. Right off the bat is there any noticeable debris caught in it? You're mainly looking for long carpet fibers, or even strands of hair? If so try using a scissor to cut the blockage away. Then, manually rotate the brush roll to uncover further clogs. When examining your brush roll take note of the condition of the bristles. Are they loose? If so this would be a good time to change your brush roll entirely. There should be two screws holding the plate onto your Shark Navigator. Use a screw driver to remove these screws to gain access to the brush roll and belt.

The second part to check would be your Shark Navigator's belt. With use the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roll. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. So if your belt feels loose as well replace that. A general rule would be that you're going to want to replace your belt about every 6 months. And if your belt is really loose this could be causing a noise when your brush roll is active.

There are no repair parts for these machines. Shark/ Europro do not make parts. They are disposable. When they break, you're expected to throw it away. If you're wise you won't waste your money on another one.

I'm having trouble with the brush not always freely moving. What should I check or do?


It may need a new belt, or, if you can detach the whole brush, there may be debris in the joints where the brush is able to turn at. Sometimes that area hides hair, strings and other debris, that will cause your vacuum to NOT work at its peak! Check that first, before buying a new belt, just in case you can save yourself some money.

Sharks are not made to be repaired. They are built to throw away. No parts are made for them for this reason. Save yourself some grief and don't buy another one.

HA HA HA ! Now that IS funny. Sorry to laugh at your misfortune... If it's been less than 30 days, get your money back quick ! While you still can. Shark warranty registration ? That is just so funny. You do know Shark doesn't make repair parts, and that they are disposable vacs, right ? Oh, you didn't know that ?
Seriously, take it back as fast as you can. It will save you some heart ache.

Shark navigator uv300 roller stops while vacuuming filters are clean and not clogged up


The belt that turns the rotating brush is loose. Make sure it is on correctly or replace with a (new) tighter belt. This will require you to unscrew a few screws on the bottom & remove the cover. Then remove the roller.

Sorry but Shark products fail after a very short life typically and there are no parts for them. They are disposable. Do yourself a favor and don't waste money on another one.

My beater brush comes on for 3 seconds and quits working on my shark navigator.


Same thing with my NAV22. Called them. They walked me through some troubleshooting and then they offered to send me a replacement power floor nozzle (the entire bottom piece). They said they don't want us to open it up to replace belts, so if you registered the product when you bought and it's been less than 5 years you should be all set...
