well if the light stays blue , that means its still on ...what you may need to do is go to your menue and select the setup selection and then go to tuning band.....i belive it will be on page 32 of you manual, under customising the setup settings....in order for the tv to start working it needs to be able to scan for channels.....if you are useing a cable company like comcast or direct tv...depending on how you pluged it into the tv ,(like using the input 1 or 2 , s-vidio, cable , ectra,)...you need to push the input button thats on the lower right side of your remote and select the propper input area as to how you hooked up your cable box

I dont have a solution but I am serching for the same answer to your question. As I had purchased the same TV from wallmart and they did not give me the warranty, because as i was told by a manager that they do not input the warranty option for BLACK FRIDAY PRODUCTS, which they do not willing offer as I have found out since with other products that have died. This TV had just suddenly turned off one day not even a year and a half after I purchased it and it flickers and stays black screen withg only the RED LED light on. PLEASE ANY HELP ON HOW TO GET THIS FIXXED WOULD BE GREATLY APPRETIATED!!!
248-342-5213 text me if you know anyone that can give me a solution to this problem or point me in the right direction to get it fixxed as it cost 700$ and was a second tv...the SHARP I use in my living room which gets used 3 times as much is working and 2 years older then the poloroid. I RESIDE IN THE PHOENIX AREA IF YOU KNOW RESONABLLY PRICED TV REPAIR MEN. THANKS A LOT!!!

Right where you plug in the power cord on the back of the TV (without disassembling the TV) there is a hidden fuse in the black plastic connector...about 1/4 inch to the left of the plug... Very easy to miss, and opened using a small blade screwdriver. There is a symbol on the plastic that represents a fuse... I think it is a 250V 4A fuse, but check the markings to be sure.
If that fuse is intact, you may want to disassemble the TV and check the fuse that is on the actual power supply circuit board. It will be adjacent to the incoming power wires... It may be covered with insulated heat shrink wrap so you may not be able to tell if it is good just by looking at it...
The other poster's suggestion to check for bad/swollen capacitors is also sound advice but remember that not all capacitors that have failed are so easy to spot, and may look good even though they are bad.
