Well, first, what kind of platform are you one? Mac? Windows? Both have decent editing programs that are available. If your using a Mac, plug in your camera to firewire or usb and fire up iMovie. A PC, plug in and try windows movie maker. They are fairly simple programs that make importing and editing pretty easy.
If you are looking for other options, check out Ulead's Video Studio FX, its about 150 bucks and claims to be user friendly.

How can I edit my video disc

For DVD camcorders, it depends on your DVD discs type. Some kinds are edited and finalized on camcorders and can be never modifyed once you finished. In this case you must consider carefully before editing on camcorders and finish it. Other discs allow you to rewrite on it with editing programs like ArcSoft ShowBiz.

I cant get my JVC GR-HD1US camcorder which records

Did you ever get this to work? I have the same camera (but on a Mac). On a Mac you have to set the capture to the correct setting (ie. the way it was recorded on camera). The frames per second and resolution have to match. When on DV setting the camera converts the video to DV standard and all consumer editing programs can import that with ease (almost no user setup). I'm sure you have the right switches and settings on the camera (being that you own this and most likely know how to use it). Those setting should be in your manual. If you can not set the capture setting in the editing programs then you will need a more powerful editing program.

Your camera probably records in a special extension file, that takes your camera's program to work. You can get the program by going to your manufactor's website and download the software.

How to transfer videos on the computer??

hi friend,
step 1
Check out the specs of your camcorder and computer, to see the kind of connection you need to transfer video to your PC. Most Macs and some PCs come with firewire cable ports. Check for the port.
  • Step 2 Install a PCI card, if your computer does not support firewire so you will be able to use the firewire cable. You can buy one at an electronics store.
  • Step 3 Shop for video editing software if you plan to edit your video. Find out what kind of file format your video editing software is compatible with. File formats are avi, mpg, mov, moov, movie or qt.
  • Step 4 Make sure the computer and the camera is on. Plug the cable into the appropriate location on your video camera, which varies on different models of camcorders. It should be labeled.
  • Step 5 Plug the other end of the cable into the computer in the appropriate spot. This will vary depending on the model. It will usually be located on the side or the back of the computer. Your computer should automatically detect your camcorder.
  • Step 6 Open the footage in your video editing software and capture it if you plan on editing it. If you just want to put the video on your PC, just save it to your hard drive as an avi file.
  • Step 7 Use your video editing software. Make all editing changes. If you need help, read the tutorials in the software.
  • Step 8 Copy the digital video to a DVD when you are done.
  • Step 9 Disconnect the firewire cable. You will not need to turn off the computer to do this.
  • jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){ var $this = jQuery(this); $this.find('img').error(function(){ jQuery(this).remove(); $this.remove(); }); }); Tips & Warnings
    • If you don’t see an firewire port, use the windows "device manager" to find out if it is installed.
    • If you are using Windows XP, then you will have the software to capture video with the Windows Movie Maker program. If you have an older windows you will need to buy video editing software.
    • You will need a lot of storage space on your computer, because video files tend to take up a lot of space.
    hope this helps u

    thank u for using fixya

How to transfer my minidv video files to my PC. I don't have the dv cable, just the usb cable.

You first need an editing program like windows media, then open that program on your pc and look for the import or ingest or capture video menu. A window should pop up and should ask you to identify the device you want to connect to (your camera usb should be hooked up to the computer with the computer on but the camera off, then turn on the camera before you do the connect to device above) then follow the instructions to either hit play on your camera while clicking capture live on the editing program, or ask the help menu how to capture footage for the specific editing program you have.

Unable to import video to computer on sony handycam DCR-DVD703E

I have a Sony computer, Windows XP, and my camera records on tape, so the best I can do is give you some hints.

On my system, I first load a video editing program: Pinnacle Studio, Nero, or Windows Movie Maker and use that to pick up my video. I believe that Mac has at least one very good movie editing program. Load that first, and then use it to load your video file.

A Mac owner could probably give you more explicit directions.

    Good Luck
