Question about Toshiba PDR-M81 Digital Camera

Open Question

There is no longer software support for a Toshiba PDR-M81 digital camera (2001) and readers won't read that Smart Card. Should I toss the camera?

The Smart Media card for this digital camera is apparently exclusive, and I have not found a card reader to accommodate this size card. I'm a Mac user. Any ideas on how to download from this camera?

I need a SD card and would like to know if there are any compatable SD cards fot the Toshiba PDR-3300. Thank you.

Any SD card will work. You don't need to specify a particular brand, and speed won't make any difference to the camera (though a faster card may speed up downloads via a card reader). Just make sure you get an SD card, not an SDHC card.

Hi,lost my CD for my Toshiba PDR-3320 any where I can download it for free? Old laptop died and I need to re-install the software so I can post photos.Thank you!Kev

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How can I get a PC/AV cord for my Toshiba PDR-M81 digital cameera? How else can I transfer my pictures to my PC?

if your camera has a media card.. (SD/MMC/Compact flash/MicroSD///etc..) remove the card from the camera and use that to transfer your media to your pc... to find a cord you would want to go to toshiba's website and look for a cord from them.. or take the camera to your local electronic store and ask someone there .. it might be a low cost mini usb cord that they supply... good luck

Does this camera have to have a card in order to take any pictures?

It takes a SmartMedia card, up to 64mb, no internal memory. You should go to Toshiba's home page though and upgrade the firmware for this camera. It's free and can be done by downloading and running the latest version of the camera's software. This gives the camera the ability to recognize SmartMedia cards up to 128mb, but I'd upgrade whether I planned on using a card that big or not.

PNY 2GB memory card

I have the same camera and bought a 4GB PNY SD card and it wouldn't work, so I read the manual :) The manual says, "SD Memory Cards having the following storage capacity can be used on your camera (Toshiba PDR-3330):
8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, 128MB, and 256MB"
Hope this helps! -Kim

Use the resolution button on the top of the camera by the LCD display. One button is for selecting Flash. One button is for the self-timer. The middle button is for resolution. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the options.
